Anyone have experience with the Vodafone Prepay Pocket WiFi R208. Can it be used with an Australian SIM card?

G'day Stuffed

Have used the R208 (and its predecessors all the way back to the R201) throughout NZ without any problems, also in Europe and Oz with local SIM cards.

Have just upgraded to the R212 which is 4G capable and very happy with that too.

Cheers, Gobit

Are there generic pocked wifi units? See that Vodafone NZ have theirs at $199.
Just that am in Ozzie for a few days and have had a gut full of wifi charges at resorts so thought would get one for future visits!

Do you use a smartphone while there? If so what model? It might do this sort of thing without needing a seperate device?

There are several "generic" ones.

I have the Huawei E5776 which is a 4G/4G/UTMS unit with up to 10 connected devices via Wi-fi which I am very happy with. Can't find it anywhere in NZ (including on Huawei's site), but found it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Unlocked-Factory-Huawei-Suitable-Operators/dp/B00DTRADEE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382408390&sr=8-1&keywords=huawei+5776

I have an unlocked Huawei E5832 3G/Wi-fi router if you are interested. From memory its max 5 devices connected at the same time. You would need a USB-powersupply (the kind you use to charge your cellphone, you can use the iPhone charger) to charge it. Send me an IM with a bid for it if you like.
