1 How do I keep my phone directory listing
2 Who controls my phone number
Early this year I moved from Telecom to TelstraClear who provided a permanent link between my TC number and their number. I wanted to keep the 35 year old listing in the phone book but seem to be getting a 'runaround' between three companies.
WhitePages advise that the number is currently 'delisted', I assume part of the change over process. Even though I still have an email account with Telecom they refer my to Telstra. While TCL say they can only list their own numbers. Perhaps they have yet to get additional services up and running but do not say that.
I assume the old number remains as part of Telecom's infrastructure but as I am not paying them, who services this part in the event of a fault or publishing in the phone book. Can TCL legally publish the old number. I am happy to pay a small fee.
By the way, number ID shows the TCL number when I ring out. Is this 'number portability', or is this temporary fix pending a permanent solution?
Thanks
