Anyone else tried to sort this out? I was on the old Ihug Get3 just to keep my Ihug email addresses (5 addresses for $5.06 per month was the effective price). I also have several friends and family on the same plan.

Of all of us only I got a letter saying this was being discontinued and one would automatically be moved to a new plan at $29.95 (I think something like that) or could go with Extra Mailbox Service at $5.12.

Rang the number on the letter and was moved several departments and finally after they upped to a Supervisor found someone who knew anything about it. Big shock - one email address only. Its $5.12 for each one. As I currently have cable they agreed to a waiver and let me keep 2 in the short term for one fee. Nice. All solved. Then I can no longer log into the website and now have a letter saying my account has been canceled. Can still get mail so maybe they meant only the Get3 but why cancel my whole account over an account type change. Called and no one can tell me.

Now for the more fun bit. Tried to change my Mums and she is told I was there and took over the call that it includes all 5 addresses and the my account should not be canceled. Oh and she was forced to change password as well (fun for a 70 year old) - we did manage to get it changed back the next day thank goodness.

Anyway anyone about who can advise the CORRECT info on the foced move from Get 3 to Extra Mailbox Service in terms of number of addresses, online account access and if an account should have been closed.

We are migrating people off the old dial up plans onto the extra email system.
If you had a @ihug.co.nz domain please check with us to make sure it wasnt moved to a @vodafone.co.nz, Also note your passwords may change but they shouldnt.

Regards.

Ta for the reply. Thats what the letter said but the actual process has been a mess and now I am advised my account is closed (but the email ihug address still is working). If you log in you can only re-add @vodafone address and I want to ihug ones back asap if it is 5 addresses.

I really would like to know if the $5.12 is for one address or 5 addresses as your staff give conflicting information.

I don't mind the get3 plan being discontinued however it would be nice if the extra mailbox plan allowed up to 5 email addresses to maintain the same cost/benefit of the get3 service.

Instead we either get moved to a dial-up service I don't need at 6 times the price, or move each address to the extra mailbox plan at the same price as we were paying for 5 email addresses.

Did any customers on the get3 plan actually utilize the dial-up service? I'm guessing the vast majority of these accounts were used only to maintain email addresses as people moved their internet services to other providers.

The last part is very true. I have never known anyone to have. I would need to see the account to be sure whats happening with it.

Pm sent. Just tried online bit again and says one mail box but you can access nothing so if they killed my old account no doubt the ap is killed and how am I meant to pay this.

Frustrating and unnecessary change to an account that was not broken and now is.

Does this have any effect on those who have an @ihug.co.nz address who are broadband customers?

No just legacy dialup plans

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

I have not got a letter, I have 5 old ihug addresses on a get3 plan for various family members.

Sucks if this is the case.

Found a letter in the mail box today. Not checked for a week so may have arrived earlier.

Not happy at a massive price jacking for a few lightly used mailboxes.

Any chance someone from Vodafone can sort this question? $25 per month for just some mailboxes is nuts and I really want the other two addresses back but cant they tell me as ihug ones. So frustrated with this.

It was probably unsustainable to provide email at that price, which phone support too. That is  probably more the true cost to them and also making a profit, but then again you can get free email via gmail at the moment. But you do pay a price for that via advertising and them harvesting info about you and your browsing habits.
