Kia ora all

I am embarrassed to admit it but I have totally failed to set up our new household with workable internet.

I am not very skilled however never had a problem like this. We changed house, and provider, and got a new router. So we are naked Vodafone ADSL 2 with flash looking SHG1500 . The old router was given as a gift to a colleague of my wife (and now I wish it wasn't...)

I searched all around the net and cannot find a complete manual or advise what to do when your internet seems to be working fine but ports are blocked and open port check cannot see them. I had set up port forwarding, as on my old modem, but nothing works. Friend told me it may be firewall, so I lowered setting to 'low' however nothing happened either. There are so many settings under 'firewall' and I am not quite sure whether I should just start playing with them (and I do not understand what they may mean..). Also under 'user permissions' setting all is 'on' but 'sharing' - shall I turn it on? I found only very very basic vodafone manual that does not explain each setting. Skype is not working properly, p2p is not working at all, basically it seems like there is something 'blocking' us. The ports are set and on though...

Can anyone please, please help us?
Many thanks, and happy Easter!
Paws

PS: Apologies if this is very stupid question...

Hiya

The SHG1500 is aka Vodafone Station, here are the SHG1500 manuals, and here's the ADSL settings.

As John mentioned, muchos assistance in Vodafone Community.

Cheers

Thanks m for your kind reply.
The manual you pointed out is not a full manual - I found it before. It just glosses over the settings and capabilities of this router.
The link to the settings is great but it does talk about the settings re: firewall etc. My internet is working, but not, as I noted above, need to use ports. Why all the ports are closed when I opened them up?
Many thanks again

Hi,

Have you gone to Advanced>Port Settings? Very self explanatory from here.
If you have issues post some screen shots with your intentions and we can point out the correct settings.

Cheers

IMHO Vodafone should be embarrassed, to put that shg1500 maneul up. It doesnt explain port forwarding very well at all. Is the manuel from the manufacturer avilible anywhere?
