KiwiNZ: Good grief I could not think of enough stuff to download, just as well I only have 80GB and I am old 😊

You and me both, my dear. Although I do remember unlimited internet - dial-up style. I'm from a generation where a Sportster Vi 14.4k US Robotics modem was The Future™ and where IRC was the only way I got to talk to anybody ever. UseNet helped me connect with other nerds studying Quenya before anybody else I knew IRL even knew what LotR was.

Life was so much simpler then :)

I remember 15 years ago trying to download a 480mb'ish Linux ISO, running at full speed on a 56k modem I think it took the better part of 48hrs. Of course now using VDSL2 I'd expect the same kind of download to be done in a few mins :)

try just over a min! ;)

I will be interested to see the True Net reports for both Telecom and Vodafone. It would be nice if they could show us the results of capped vs unlimited.

Doubt there will be a difference of anything noticeable. ADSL and VDSL its hard to compare really, But as a rough estimate i would suspect no different.

After asking for 24+ months for Vodafone to offer an unlimited plan, or decent high datacaps and cheaper overage,  I finally gave up waiting and had my cable broadband disconnected last month, and was on the verge of ditching TV/phone because I couldn't go naked TV only.  Now you come out with an unlimited plan.. I'm just a tad miffed.

It's going to take quite a while for any difference to be noticable.

Neither are putting unlimited subscribers into separate 'pools',  so the impact gets spread across all their customers, meaning it's smaller overall for each person, but effects more people.  i.e.  if they have poor planning and get slammed, it will impact ALL customers, not just the unlimited ones.

You know we won't / can't speak about new products / services before they are launched, You can ask till you are blue in the face until official coms is released,

I don't think she's slamming you for no warning, just 'regretting' the timing coincidence of her own decision to give up?

That's how I read it anyway...

Personally I rea her initial sigh the way I thought when I heard the announcement:

*sigh* now if only I could get the speed to make it worth the extra 10 from my 150GB ADSL "Fs/Fs" plan 4.7kms from the nearest exchange/cabinet...

But that definitely WASN'T her thought either :)

I know that John.. It's mostly frustration at the situation I now find myself in, and not a small amount of rage at the glacial pace of TCL (and Vodafone has felt the same) releasing new plans to market. I've given feedback before through people like Gary, Byron and Dylan about it..

It's been spoken about many times how fast the market is changing

Now if only someone would take some action to help Vodafone adapt to that, and become agile enough to release new plans in weeks not months/years ;-)

New plans comes when systems and back end resources are that of capable of supporting such. You can start providing 150% of what you have.

500GB was released not that long ago and now it's unlimited so not sure where you are coming from, When new stuff is launched during project stage it has a date for market,

Have you ever worked in a Telco on projects? I don't think you fully understand how these new things get to market, It's a complex world
