When I worked in tech support for Vodafone years ago. JohnR would often go and assist customers with issues not relating to network, but often device issues or PC issues. Glad he fixed it for you and found the cause.

When it was IHUG, I did that a few times as well, especially with the IHUG Ultra customers....  was just easier to go to their house if it was near where I was staying, and fix it in 2mins than fight over the phone with them for an hour trying to get them to find the Ctrl key.... ;)

I hear you!! I did it myself a few times too...but sadly my team leader put a stop to it. Said he didn't like a 'single female' going to someone's house after work. whatever, I just took a body guard ;-)

And the same here, back when I would have to help new/existing customers reconfiguring/setting up routers for their cable modem connections back in the old TelstraClear days I would go around if they were close to work (which they tended to be) and get it sorted in 2 mins myself! :)
