invisibleman18: Sorry if it's a dumb question, but what's the difference between the prepay smart $19 and the '19'? I didn't realise there was another $19 option so what does that one include that I don't already get? Looking on the website it seems to have the same minutes, data and unlimited texts.

for a start minutes and SMS are valid to AU numbers as well, Then you get free calling to VodafoneNZ mobiles all weekend you don't get this on PrepaySmart

Thanks for the clarification. I had thought I got those things as I didn't realise the $19 prepay plan was different to what I had. But since I don't contact anyone in Australia or make many calls anyway I didn't notice.

Couldnt've they just have added the AU calling and 4g and things to that plan instead of making a whole new one

kiwitrc: We probably should be thanking 2 Degrees rather than VF.

I agree

Don't remember when they thanked us for launching 4G and HD voice

I think we have the NZ police to thank for the HD voice

You are confusing marketing with technology.

I don't notice 4G for what I am using for my usual 500MB per month.

Skinny and 2D has the free 1GB each month on top of the 500MB usual per month cycle.  I do have a VF SIM but that is my work/admin/crap phone.  I just have it so I have redundancy if one Telco goes down and I don't yet have a phone that works with Telecom/XT.  My first LG Optimus version doesn't support it, the version 2 or G2 does.  I spend no more than $20 top up per year to maintain that number and that credit.

I just don't use data overseas given the cost.  For what I can do, a dual SIM handset with 2D and Skinny would be ideal.

I find that 2D might have the better combination.  Ie dad's $8 60min plan with 250 TXT or the usual $19 and $29 packs.  From recollection the unit charge for casual users on 2D and Skinny might be cheaper than the other 2 Telco's.  2D can also access that 12GB for $99 provided you are in the zone.  That split per month can be paired up with a $8 60min plan for 2GB data each month.

Not sure how that relates to my tongue in check dig at JohnR, but lets move on.

All I was trying to say is competition is great, just like I jumped to Bellsouth when I could escape the clutches of Telecom back in the brick ages, the more choice the better.

Vodafone - well done.

I have been so close to cutting and moving to 2 Degrees.

I will now wait patiently for another month or two to see if you actually roll this out to your on account customers too (we are people too!).  Hopefully you don't keep us waiting too long...

I am currently using ' Prepay FreebeeData' where I top up $20 a month, keep the $20 and get 250MB and unlimited texts to NZ mobiles. When this expires on the 13th December, do I go to the Prepay 19 plan? Or do I need to make that change myself on the 13th?

I take you have the Vodafone mobile app just login and click on plan

Love how they keep avoiding the "On Account" question.

That means, nope, just pre-pay.

So to clarify that I've got this right, when it comes to the 13th rather than top-up, I change my plan to Prepay 19 (as it won't automatically change me)? All the top ups of $20 each month has left me with $80+ on my mobile.

Also: Because of these new pre-pay plans, is the pricing for mobile broadband data (pre-paid, e.g. for a 4G mobile broadband data device) going to be adjusted?
