I would have thought that it would be in VF's best interests to simply all its offerings.

This would mean less confusion for customers and therefore less heat on their CSR's answering queries.

VF seems to be getting more illogical as time goes by...

Vodafone are still the best priced ISP in NZ. No one can match $85 For unlimited BB with phone, Free SKY for 6 months, 6 best mates, free modem, 12 months PSN Subscription, Free MYSKY. That Retention team deal.

I'm waiting for my retention team call back... and if I get that deal I'll be staying with them.

Sideface: Vodafone have just posted their new cable prices on their website.

My plan has gone down:

VF cable with phone, highest available speed and data allowance:

2103    $156pm for 150 GB at 100/10  (plus $3 per 2GB overage)
2014    $139pm Unlimited at 100/10
2015    $109pm Unlimited at 100/10

As I won't have the UFB option until late 2019, this is good news smile

This is great news, I wonder where they managed to cut costs in order to decrease the price.

Moving their support staff off shore I guess.

I phoned VF Sales this morning to confirm that the above details were correct - they were.
The phone was answered by a Kiwi in 5 minutes.
The VF rep volunteered the information that the price will go up by $10 after 12 months.

I totally agree with NonprayingMantis' comment re "confusion as a marketing tool".

My VF cable contract has now been changed 5 times in 24 months (fortunately for the better)

For a sales call, that is a pretty quick response. Pity the same can't be said for the Technical Support side.

Don't want / need
-  DSL.
-  sky.
-  modem.
-  PSN subscription.
-  mysky.

Want
- Phone
- 6 favourite numbers (nice to have, not necessary though)
- Unlimited cable

So when you re-compare, under these requirements, it is not necessarily true.

However I will say that I have had excellent performance on cable and I see no reason to switch unless either of these conditions are true (being vodafone scare me off and the cable prices rise too much).

More "confusion as a marketing tool":

Only 24 hours after introducing their new cable rates, VF have complicated things even further by adding yet another HSC option:

Ultra Fast with home phone + NEON - Cable,  which offers "Free NEON for 6 months" (presumably a joining credit for new customers only)

The 50/2 Mbps version costs $99pm, and the 100/10 Mbps option costs a hefty $129pm. (both less $10 for On Account mobile customers)

Looking at the little ! next to the Free Neon it says that you pay$105/month ($115 for 100/10) for the free period which would mean that free Neon is in fact $6/month...

Um, is it just me or has the plan with NEON vanished?

Yes, it's gone - the shortest-lived VF plan in history.

There was also that one that penalised mobile customers for calling other networks, I remember someone saying it was setup to "reward loyal customers" or something like that. Then the Commerce Commission got wind of it and it was dropped.

Sounds like you want a beat-up on Vodafone!? For many years nearly every mobile plan had higher charges for calls to phones on other networks. It wasn't just Vodafone and the Commerce Commission did nothing about it for all those years. From memory, it was number portability that killed it because you could no longer tell from the phone number prefix which network you were actually calling.

No, I quite like Vodafone mobile. It's anything ex-TCL I have the issue with.
Anyway, this thread reminded me of when Paul Brislen used to post on here and he was busy defending what a great plan it was.

And I agree with you, number portability did screw up those kind of plans.

We're long-time acquired from TelstraClear cable customers (I forget how long but the account number has only 4 digits) and got the January email about the $4 increase. Just got our most recent bill, and the package cost has risen $4 but there's no credit to offset it even though our current term has nearly 3 months remaining. Maybe I'm too cynical but I'm really not surprised.

In my Feb invoice they included a $4 increase, yet I received no info about this and only months into a new 12 month contract.

WTF Vodafone!!!!

I thought this increase would only apply when contract term is up??

Update..

After a couple of calls it appears the VF Billing system has erred (surprise surprise) and my account is being rebated.
He said...this could effect could affect lots of customers.
