Got a customer who has an historical paradise.net.nz email address, for which they still get occasional emails. THey use Outlook.com to POP in this email so they can use EAS instead, and tehy are transitioning to the Outlook.com address. This has stopped working, and when trying to set it up in Outlook.com settings, it says Paradise SMTP Server Connection Failed (it won't do just POP3, it has to validate the SMTP settings also for it to work which is annoying).

So question is, has Vodafone stopped allowing access to smtp.paradise.net.nz, port 25 with username and password when not connected to the Vodafone network?

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure basic SMTP access from outside their network has been blocked for maybe 5 or 6 years now.

Hmmm must have been working when it was set up 6 months or so ago, as the settings are already populated in there...and it was working

pop3.paradise.net.nz should work for them getting mail but I would agree with Mr Biddle that smtp.paradise.net.ne shouldn't be working for outgoing and hasn't done for years.

If you are using the smtp address for incoming then there's your problem there :)

lol no I'm not using the stmp server for incoming. When you add a third party email into the Outlook.com service to connect email accounts, you now need to enter both POP and SMTP details, and it won't accept the account if the SMTP test works, even though the POP part of it is fine.

 Hi

Have a read of this post I have referenced http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Broadband-landline-packs/Read-Me-Email-Settings/m-p/108166#U108166. If I read it correctly smtp2.vodafone.net.nz should work. If accessing outside the Vodafone network it will require authentication.

Hope this helps,
