Called voda support and I was advised there is outage in Brooklyn but there is no alert on voda site. Told him if I could get a ticket if in case it will not be fixed by today but I was told theres no need for ticket as it is an outage.

Hopefully it will all be fix when I get home. And btw, what to expect on this upgrade happening today?

Sorry team I haven't been keeping up with this thread and now at 118 pages it's a bit daunting, but can anyone tell me if things have improved in Khandallah at all?

I just got home and my latency's already fluctuating like mad. My latency is over double what it normally is in Rocket League.

Take a traceroute with a grain of salt, but you'll see some major fluctuations on early hops. It's disgusting right as soon as it exits our network.

C:\Users\Colton>tracert google.com

Tracing route to google.com [203.97.26.20]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms pfSense.localdomain [192.168.1.1]
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 84 ms 68 ms 38 ms lo0.internet.ivpn.pe15.telstraclear.net [218.101.61.30]
4 48 ms 36 ms 71 ms 203.97.26.2
5 47 ms 57 ms 65 ms 203.97.26.20

We're going to see if we're able to have our account reimbursed for yet another month of prolonged headaches. We were previously promised resolution before the end of December, but that work has been delayed. Again. And again.

I just want to come home and enjoy myself on the Internet. I'm frustrated with constantly having these problems. I'm aware that my continued whinging isn't helping anyone at this point, but I just have to vent somewhere.

Funnily enough, yesterday at work when GitHub went down we had someone that helped out with Truenet talking in IRC. Before long, our conversation devolved into a large number of us complaining about Vodafone cable. They were all the same issues I've been experiencing for countless months: Congestion at peak hours; randomly being unable to access certain sites; and occasionally having their connection just outright die.

Let me just say that some of my coworkers also have some...erm...colourful things to say about Vodafone. I was surprised at how many people were just as frustrated as me, but weren't as vocal about it.

Gah, I took a break to write the above post and it's even worse now. I'm seeing upwards of 140 ms to Sydney!!

So much for a casual night of playing games with friends.

The congestion is looking to be quite ugly tonight.

C:\Users\Colton>tracert google.com

Tracing route to google.com [203.97.26.20]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms pfSense.localdomain [192.168.1.1]
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 79 ms 74 ms 53 ms lo0.internet.ivpn.pe15.telstraclear.net [218.101.61.30]
4 16 ms 14 ms 25 ms 203.97.26.2
5 10 ms 10 ms 11 ms 203.97.26.20

Trace complete.

Again, take that traceroute with a huge grain of salt. The initial hop external hop is worse, but that one's always inconsistent. Latency's actually settled down a bit since I last posted, but bandwidth has dropped considerably.

Mind you, this was all tested briefly after rebooting the modem and pfSense box.

Have you tried restarting the cable modem to see if that helps? Previously that solved similar latency like that previously.

Chorus arrived here 10am. Ninety minutes install (aerial drop), ONT installed in the home office, configured the DLink router with 2degrees fibre settings, up and running:

I am unsubscribing from this thread (and calling Vodafone to cancel cable).

Mauricio has fiber now so this thread can be closed. Problem solved.

There are Chorus and Downer trucks literally right outside of our house and they're doing stuff with that recently-installed pole!

I think it's happening!

Well done. Your install sounds like it was similar to mine (and just as quick) laughing

It just seems so stupid that you can't stay with vodafone and just move to fibre.

I'm pretty happy with the service except for the congestion issues in the evening if I could swap to fibre and stay with Vodafone I would.

Odd business decision, surely it's better to have a customer than no customer at all

Regardless of this limitation, I was set on moving on. Have been a Vodafone customer (and TelstraClear, and TelstraSaturn, and Saturn, and Chello) for the best part of 17 - 18 years. Seeing how things were going I thought a good time to move.
