REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

Until yesterday I had believed that I was the only TrueNet "cable" volunteer in Island Bay.
John Butt has advised me that there is a second volunteer in Island Bay who is getting significantly better TrueNet results results than I am. (less peak congestion)

This may be because we are on different nodes.

Could he or she PM me so that we can compare notes?

I'm on Berhampore node WKH.

I volunteered but you already had the slot as I'm also on WKH. That said, there have been multiple times that you've reported speeds wildly different from mine, mine always reporting significantly better than yours. Maybe there's more to it than just nodes?

Reposting this for visibility.

What the hell, Vodafone?! How do you always manage to provide worse service?! Whenever I think that it just cannot possibly get any worse...

Island Bay, 100/10 Mbps cable, measured by ethernet, 9:39pm:

My worst result of the year - 4% of line speed.

When is this going to be fixed?

EDIT :  Here are my OOKLA downstream results from the VF Wellington server over the last 3 days:

These tests were done at random intervals via ethernet.

The deepest dip at the right is tonight.

Yeah, flatmates are complaining like hell too.

Tonight is god damn ridiculous.

Seriously, Vodafone. How can you possibly let it get this bad?!?!

Two weeks. Which two, I have no idea.

Vodafone, when are you going to fix WKH? Is it really too much to ask for a realistic ETA after all these months?

So vodafone have offered me 20% off for the last 6 months because of this.  I was OK with that offer, but tonight (like everyone else) performance is abysmal, and as you say despite lots of promises, it get worse with no resolution for WKH.

I see the TDR results in no payment required for vodafones cable service.  Vodafone, will you offer that to the rest of us on that node or do we all have to go to TDR (and media).

Quite annoyed (obviously)

You'll want to go to TDR yourself, in my opinion. There were other factors that pushed me to personally pursue that as an option for getting issues sorted. The congestion was a secondary problem - though during nights like tonight, it is a primary one.

From what I've gathered, congestion alone isn't going to get you far with TDR except for in the most extreme of circumstances (i.e. if every night was as bad as tonight).

Although I suspect they would be quite interested in this thread - its not isolated users and its not short term

I'm wondering if there is something else going on tonight apart from congestion. Others, including myself are having pretty serious issues with slow/no connection. Currently at 12.25am I cannot use netflix or load websites. Using 3G.

It's only 6:30 and the congestion already has us below 50% of advertised speed. Something tells me this is going to be a repeat of last night, where we were lucky to break 5 Mbps. :\

I'm just going to head off to sleep early since I'm exhausted from the rest of the day. I doubt gaming will even be possible at peak hour tonight. I was seeing over 300 ms latency in Rocket League last night, and that's just to Sydney.

Vodafone, you seriously need to get your act together and sort out this Island Bay node. You should also show some goodwill and find a way to proactively reimburse the affected people. Even if they're not complaining, it doesn't mean they're not pissed off about getting screwed over. I've chatted with a couple of other Island Bay residents using Vodafone cable, and they've expressed peak-hour frustrations as well. They're just not vocal about it like I am. Most people just don't want to spend their time whining on the Internet for a couple of hours every week like I do.

How do you tell which node you're on? We're in Berhampore on a 50/2 plan and getting much better results than you:
