BigMal: I'm in Miramar.  We supposedly got our nodes upgraded today but I'm still having the same issues.  Currently getting 5Mb down on speedtest to vodafone wellington server.

Miramar was listed on the VF status page earlier tonight with an outage .. sorry I don't recall the time.

Scotty1986: So has anybody who has been upgraded already seen much of a improvement? Be interesting to see how well it's working.

shrub was getting 100Mb to chch, 96Mb to Aus and 49Mb to LA from Christchurch during the evening last week after the changes, along with a significant improvement in latency too

quickymart:
Kodiack: The oh-so-common DPC3008 modem itself is technically capable of delivering >340/120 Mbps. I'd love to see us get closer to that. It'd certainly shame most of the fibre offerings. :D

Something in the back of my head (from when I worked there) tells me that the actual cables may not be capable of handling that much speed. I could be wrong/things could have changed however - I last worked there over 10 years ago smile

The cable network itself can cope with just about anything you throw at it. All it does is pass modulated RF carriers. The trick to high capacity is to have the right equipment modulating the carriers, to have your network super-clean of interference, and to have an appropriate frequency response from amp to amp / end to end.

I know you've been asked this a thousand times but... any easy way to tell which node we're on?

Nish: Hopefully that's not the only Wainui node on the list?

Yes - there is more work planned in Wainuiomata as part of this project.

langers1972: Bah, I'm on W81 in Kapiti. Does that mean I'm ok if that doesn't appear on the list or just have to wait?

And also yes - there is more work planned in Kapiti as part of this project.

I'll have more details as schedules are confirmed. Again, really appreciate your patience.

Well my Internet in Khandallah has just gone down. A call to the service centre said there are 200 home affected so it might be one node. But he was unable to see if it was an upgrade or a fault.

Does anyone know when Khandallah will be upgraded?

I just updated the network status post at http://www.vodafone.co.nz/cableupgrades/

The network engineers today completed the scheduled work listed for Upper Hutt, Wainuiomata / Lower Hutt, Karori and two of three nodes in Burma (W62 and W64). The remaining work will be carried over.

Sounds like there is lots planned for tomorrow - I'll have updated info when it's confirmed to me in the morning.

Any idea when Khandallah will be upgraded (or has been?). I had a long outage today (affected a node apparently) but I can't Khandallah in the list so maybe it was another issue.

In Johnsonville. Even DNS resolution seems to have slowed down - and we're using the Vodafone cable DNS, not a third party.

The image is too small to be readable.

How about using a thumbnail with a link to the FULL size image

I'm confused.  Miramar was on the list but not anymore?

I don't think they listed all nodes in Miramar, as I got Dylan to check what node I'm on and it wasn't one of the ones listed as being scheduled for Miramar on Friday and Monday. Hopefully later this week for me.
