Ok thanks. The phone does support 900mhz as well as every other frequency around but as you say it does sound likely is an issue with connecting to 900mhz. I guess 2degrees here is running on 2100 which is why it connects

You could try a hard reset of the handset (this is not a power off and back on) but you would need to setup the handset again

Ok I did. It looks line the international version does support 900 umts. I do however found a few thread talking about issues with this phone with 3G/4G connectivity.

BTW john, it's 430 in Japan. Jetlag?

Oh ya forgot - 3 hours without daylight saving.

BTW, I suspect op phone is a fake or having weird 3g/4g issues as described by others.

the model is couple years old now, used to be able to buy from Harvey Norman from memory,it was replaced with G3 and soon to be G4, and only cost me like $350nz, people where asking something like $500 for there used ones. they do still sell them at the parallel import type shops i think. it an awesome phone, replaced my broken S3 and I think it is even better than an S4 when I looked into it. people are using this same imported international model here with no issues. cheers
