Hi,

Switched to Vodafone fibre recently.

On the old copper landline I used to be able to access my voicemail mailbox at another address by dialing ...

083210# then ** then <other locations ph# number without the 0 at the start>

But now I am on fibre I have to use *61 instead of 083210

When I dial *61 it says push * to access another mailbox - but when I put in the other locations number it says it 'cannot find that mailbox on the system.'

The mailbox I'm trying to access is not on fibre.

I called vodafone support and after I got transferred to 3 different departments and incorrectly ending up in 'relocations' they tried very hard but failed to help me, so I'm trying geekzone :)

Anyone know how (or if) I can access a 083210 mailbox now that I am on fibre ?

Thanks.

*61 will only get into the VodafoneNZ Voicemail fixed line platform but what do you hear when you dial 083210?

Is this Voicemail looked after by another carrier you are trying to access?

I presume you haven't just tried calling 083210 to access the Spark voicemail platform?

Yes the other mailbox is a spark one sorry.

When I dial 083210 it says to access vodafone voicemail hang-up and dial *61 or to access Spark voicemail push 0 now.  But when I push 0 it disconnects me.

Should I be talking to Spark prehaps instead ?

This used to work before we got fibre and we had our landline here through vodafone (and actually used 083210 for our local vodafone voicemail?), didn't realise that was exclusively sparks number.

While we're looking into this, I understand you should be able to access the Chorus wholesale voicemail system by calling the phone number that has the voicemail on it, wait for voicemail to pick up, and while the greeting is playing press "*", and depending on the level of the menu you're at maybe "*" again.

From a test voip I tried dialing 83083210 and 083083210 but no success. I didn't try 006483083210, but that might potentially be counted as a toll call.

Great that it's sorted, but just to clarify - there is no such things as 'Chorus wholesale voicemail'..

The problem with that is it may end up waking up someone at that location. Really should have the call minder number just go to call minder IMO, rather than hijacking another telcos number with a message.

I agree that if people dial a number for a service they should be able to get the service. That's why I've insisted on a fault being lodged to hopefully get it sorted.

Good point, but you know what I mean, yeah? I guess the formal name is "Call Minder"? It was really quite amazing when it first came in, being able to leave a message while the line was busy, not needing tapes, and being able to easily access it from a remote location...

Sorta... Chorus don't provide any kind of voice mail or call minder service - that's all provided by the ISPs.
i.e:
Spark is ISP, call minder/voicemail is provided by Spark
Voda is ISP, voicemail is provided by Vodafone.
RSPX is the ISP, providing a wholesale Spark voice service, call minder/voicemail is provided by Spark

Maybe you just had Chorus and Spark confused? :)
