I've had Telstra cable for a little over a year and until about November it has been pretty good. But over the last couple of months I have experienced the link as being requently unresponsive.
Whether clearing emails or trying to access a website (or another page on a website) there is simply no response. This will continue for anything from 30 seconds to twenty minutes and is *really* annoying.
I wondered whether it was something to do with my wireless router (DI-624+) but it has been rock solid since day 1 and the link comes back up without fiddling with either the router or the cable modem.
Out of desperation I disconnected the router and hooked the modem up to the PC using the USB interface. The problem persisted so that suggests it is nothing to do with the router.
Does anyone else experience this? I'm wondering whether someone else on the cable is somehow hogging the bandwidth at times?
All/any suggestions welcomed!!

Yes, this got worse over christmas, and taking my Linksys router out, which obviously doesnt like the ARP traffic, has not helped.

I am experiencing dropped connections in Kapiti, daily.  Rebooting the cable modem sometimes helps.

If you are having the same problem as me then rebooting the cable modem is simply a way of passing the time until "normal service" resumes. Using a simple cause-effect relationship, my problem is frequently fixed by making a cup of tea - when I come back the net connection is working Laughing
