Hi

Recent postings are correct.  TV1 and TV2 have both been completed and present at 720 x 576.

All other channels are passed through as we receive them without re-encoding.

Apart from Playhouse disney (544x576 not 480x576 on TCL), C4 (720x576 off freeview/sky not 544x576 off TCL), Prime (same as C4), Bloomberg (it's 704x576, so I assume it's still on the old system)?

Based on Jeffs previous post this is confusing other than to presume TV1/2 are now on the new system, all other channels listed in Jeffs previous post will be on the 29th. I guess, bit confusing really.

After checking last night I see the following channels have had the PQ upgrade to the new transmission system:
CTV6&7, Vibe, C&I, Sky Movies 2, Sports Highlights, KTV.

Still putting in my personal request for Nasa TV (I am sure you already have a dish pointing twoards I701??).

Just out of interest. How exactly do you tell what resolution the feed is currently displaying?

I seem to currently only be able to go by what the PQ is like.

+1 for NASA TV.  That'd be cool, especially if it was in HD.  Managed to download some HD vids off the US Navy website of some shuttle launches.  Impressive stuff.

I'd love it as well!

My understanding was Nasa don't charge anything for retransmission of the signal, it'd be great to see TCL offer this when they've got all the extra channel space!

Difference being you'd need a large dish to recieve it and when there bugger all else on that bird of interest it's probably not viable to use an entire dish for one program.

Dreambox my man, it's my DM600PVR doing the business.... Screenshot below from last night, however couldn't post as the boss told me it was time for bed.

From TV2 Last night:

From Discovery Travel & Living, that seems to be running on the old system:

Notice the 704x576 on the upper right courier of the OSD.. to me means it's running through the old system... see previous posts in this thread showing other screenshots I have taken.

Hey Grant, There is all the french stuff on KU and Sky Pacific that I am sure with a 3.2Meter out of footprint.  I would put a 3.2Meter up in my back yard if the wife let me, but there is no chance of that ;).  But I am sure the whole install wouldn't be that much, and there is plenty of space out in Seaview.

After checking www.dishpointer.com and checking out "10 parkside road, wellington, new zealand" it would seem that just to the right of the clouds (bugger that it was cloudy when they shot it!).  There is already a large dish (3.2Meter??) pointed in the direction of I701 already....

I would like to startup a Poll on this, list all the FTA stuff out there, and ask if TCL will re-distribute it on the cable.  There is a lot out there... if the dish is big enough :)

Ahh, I see.
I'm behind the times obviously.  I just have the cable decoder plugged straight into the TV.  :P

The race cars are higher up the budget list.   :D

So do I :)... but not the cable decoder that TCL supplied to me :).  My one has an Ethernet port, and 2.5" harddisk, runs Linux, and has customisable skins, full On Screen Display and managable via a Web UI as well.

You can buy the DM500C's off eBay in Aus, or Austech for ~$150AUS or so.  Plus you could always buy a legal DM600PVR with Cable Tuner which can also take a 2.5" disk from the Dreambox reseller for ~$550AUS including shipping.  I would go for the 600 any day as it can take a 2.5" disk, and is the same size as the 500 (IE 3xregular DVD cases stacked ontop of each other).  Hours of fun for me.. .but now that it is working it has a really high WAF.

Righto.
I'll put it on the wishlist.  :)

Hi

Due to the large number of change requests across the HFC network this week and the complicated nature of this Core Upgrade, we must delay the quality and channel ungrade to the early hours of Wednesday morning, 5th March.

The picture improvements will take precedent and at a date to be advised we will add the remaining new channels.

I will update this forum within the next 10 days.

Has anyone else found that the feed jumps from 16:9 to 4.3 every so often just for a moment? Just noticing it on 1 and 2 well think it is both.

It was certainly doing it on Tuesday during dancing with the stars TV1, as my wife was fed up with it switching all the time...
