Salami:
quickymart: What about if someone currently commutes in from Papakura? Going all the way to the Shore isn't such an appealing option for someone in that situation, is it?

You will have to relocate. There's no other way. We were told to resign or work in manukau.

That's bad :( I live on the Shore myself, so it would be really good for me, but I pity someone having to commute from Ranui or Howick or Pukekohe (for example) - that's a long, long commute to have to make twice a day.

I know of a tech at Smales farm that commutes  Via ferry and bus everyday from  Beachlands.  Actually the Smales farm  site is quite nice  if you commute by car..

Great if you don't have kids and can afford a commute like that every day. But it's not going to work for everyone.

Imagine all the traffic you get when driving .
It's certainly not nice.
You always have to arrive early before 8:30 at least or you'll run out of space to park.

Motorcycles are getting more popular in Vodafone for getting to work, that sorts out the commute a treat! (2 extra lanes on the highway ;-)

I wouldn't take a motorcycle to work, especially over the Harbour Bridge.

I live on the Shore round the corner from Smales Farm

So you only need to take the helicopter?

You do know it's not a giant ramp right ?  Motorcycles don't go flying off the hump into Point Erin Pool ;-)

I reckon what an odd comment, I ride over AHB all the time on my bike it's just a bit of road that goes up and then down and traffic flows really well, I laugh at all the people backed up down Onewa Road for what must feel like hours

Someone I know has a wife who will not drive over it and hates being in the car when going over it. Totally illogical but there are people that dont like bridges, that one is worse for them for some reason.

Personal preference, I guess I prefer going over the bridge on 4 wheels instead of 2.
Edit: bus lanes = no queues for me on Onewa Road, ever smile

So, all that talk about not moving, moving, saying the paper was misinformed, etc was just crap.

Bullshit is still a sport.
