Hi there

As I will be in Australia for part of June, I was wondering whether the Vodafone Smart Prime is locked to the Vodafone NZ -- or whether using a Telstra or VodafoneAU sim will be no issue?

Many thanks

Stevie

Yes they're locked. You can get it unlocked for a once off $30 fee.

How long have you had the phone? I think if it's more than 9 months then you can get it unlocked for free. If less that 9 months then there is a $30 charge.

After a quick check:

Seems I was right!

I got it end of June last year. It isn't until June that I need it to be unlocked, so I'll wait until end of April/May to unlock it for free.

Would really like to know how to unlock the phone. I go to the applicable website, input my IMEI (+ captcha), next page is enter your email address. Did that about two hours ago, nothing in my inbox. When I submit my email address I don't know if was sent because I'm returned to the same page asking for my email.

Apologies, there is an issue on our end with the unlocking process, it has been raised with our engineers. Hope to share news on a fix very soon.
