Hey Guys

i recently upgraded my net connection to UFB ( Yay )

I was supplied with the bundled huawei home gateway supplied by vodafone ( BOO )

i have a Netgear N600 that i would like to use and believe this can work, my problem is when i connect this up to the WAN cable going to the UFB terminal on my wall, nothing authenticates and i cannot connect.

Apparantly i do not need a user name and password and it should work straight off.

I recieved advise from someone on the Voda forums who said i needed to enable VLAN tagging, this is not typically an option that i could find on the netgear so i installed DDWRT that seems to have the option which i did enable, but still nothing

So what i am asking, is what do i need to do on DDWRT to get this thing connected to the net

Thanks

you need to tag the WAN interface with VLAN 10

something like this, maybe it helps maybe it doesnt.

plug the supplied router in and find out how it connects via the wan port and replicate to new router.

ok so some more details.

I have logged into my vodafone router and it doesnt really show me any details that i need that i can see, i dont need to do a thing to this modem to get it to connect it seems to be all automatic, i cant seem to get into anything that shows "authentication information" or connection type. these modems are installed with vodas own firmware so its pretty limited

i have followed this link and copied exactly what it has and still nothing http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=158&topicid=157306

i do still wonder if this router supports UFB but everything i am seeing indicates it does

appreciate all the help so far

sweet that got me in, i can see a bunch of settings under something called internet_ethernet, their is basic connection that has a connection type of IP Routing, would this be known as something else, i dont have this in DDWRT.

interestingly enough their is a bunch of other settings under something called onnet_ethernet, that has a connection type of PPP ( assume this is same as pppoe ) and their is a username in this lot called vfnz_pro, although the password i cant see

which set should i be trying to migrate or focusing on
