Just trying to sort out a VDSL connection for my parents however the order keeps getting rejected by "Chorus" - to be honest I don't think WXC quite know what they're doing here since I can clearly see VDSL is available at their location + the Chorus Maps:

First I got "They're too far from the exchange" followed by "There is no VDSL in their area" - I had to get them to check the Chorus maps which blatantly says they can get VDSL. Short of moving them to a competent ISP not run by Vodafone is there anything the Chorus reps on here can look at? An order number can be provided on request.

Ping: @ChorusNZ

You haven't suggested they move to bigpipe using your referral link?

Presumably they don't live in a region where it is available.

Hah. I expected that to be the first response. I would be giving myself $40 if I did that as I pay their internet bill. They need VoIP and to be honest the $99 deal they're on is quite good. If I were to move them it would be to Voyager.

And I am pleased to say Chorus finally got the address sorted - was an internal mistake with their systems thinking that the house was served by an exchange 6km away instead of by the cabinet 100m away.

VDSL sync is sitting at 70/15Mbit and according to the Chorus tech will only get better (was a great guy to deal with). Did a proper clean job with a complete new jackpoint, master filter and even went and removed some of the 14! jackpoints and cabling around the house since my father made him a coffee. Going from Conklin-like speeds to ADSL2+ to VDSL has really improved things for them. I had isolated the jackpoint the modem was connected to years ago to improve their speeds but he has done the cleanest job I have actually ever seen from a Chorus tech.

Big kudos to @ChorusNZ here and to the rural Chorus tech that sorted it out like a champ.
