Hi there,

I am currently trying to get my Vodafone STB working with my iTach IP2IR device.

Has anyone had any success in either learning or using the codes in an app like iRule and controlling the STB.

I have tried using iLearn to capture the codes for the buttons and the really weird thing is that occasionally they will work when I send the captured command directly from iLearn but then they will usually stop working.  For example I captured the Guide button IR code and then sent it again from iLearn, the Guide popped up so I was stoked.  I then added this button to iRule and tested again and it work perfectly (thought I was on a winner), then I tried to capture another button and then test and since that point the Guide IR code that I captured no longers works.

I guess to cut a long story short does anyone have any captured IR codes, or does anyone have any thoughts why the codes that I am capturing are not working, or will work and then stop working after a couple of goes?

I have managed to test controlling an iPod dock that I have with the iTach and I can consistently control that so I am reasonably sure that the iTach is working and that it is just some weirdness with the Vodafone STB.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

I'm very certain there is a post on Vodafone Community about that. A person figured out the remote model to set for the note 3 ir remote.

I dont suppose you have a link for that? I have done a heap of searches but have come across nothing that seems to give me any pointers however it could be that I am searching for the wrong thing

Try setting the brand as DSTV. More info here http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Android-phones/Samsung-S4-IR-remote-WatchON-app/m-p/108066

I can control my T-Box with iRule. It was a tortuous process but I learnt the codes, not with the iTach device but with a USB-UIRT and its learning application.  The codes were learnt in Pronto format (I think) and I was able to plug them into iRule.

Just to check here are a couple of codes I learnt.

[ONE] 0000 006C 0000 001C 0155 00AD 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0ED8

[TWO] 0000 006C 0000 0002 0074 00AC 0015 0ED8

I usually have iRule repeat 3 times.

I stopped using iRule because it was a bit flaky (well for me) so reverted back to my Harmony remote. But the codes are handy since I use NPVR as my PVR program to record off the T-BOX and NPVR sends the codes down to change the channel before recording. I know the TBOX has a recorder also but you can't view the content on anything but the TV and I want to view the content anywhere on the network.

Thanks a lot for the response.  I have tried the codes and they dont seem to work for me.  Just to ensure that I have done it right though all I did was right click on Pronto Hex Codes for a device and then selected add code.  I then pasted the code in and ensured that the repeat was set to 3.  I then dragged this code and dropped it on my button.

I tell you what I have spent a MASSIVE amount of time trying to get this right - surely it shouldnt be this hard.  What hardware did you use to capture the codes with USB-UIRT?  This might be my last resort before looking into a harmony or worst case scenario ir extender (dont want to admit defeat yet and I have a tablet that I bought specially for this task) or even asking for traditional sky rather than over fibre (which I am not convinced about anyway).

Thanks again for the help

They are defined as follows

and

The codes above were copied directly from this screen?

I used a USB-UIRT to learn the codes since it can both transmit and learn IR codes. The learner program is a simple Windows program that connects t the USB-UIRT via USB (of course) and I just blasted the remote to the USB-UIRT. Took me about an hour one Sunday morning to do this :-)

Apart from that I don't do anything else

Thanks again for the help still no luck with those codes.

I am keen to give the learning another shot but I cant seem to find anywhere that sells the USB-UIRT. Did you get it direct from the site?

Are there any other IR Learners out there that I could get a hold of and quickly?

That's very strange since they work fine for me and I presume we have the same box?  That's the cable box?

I got my USB-UIRT from their site http://www.usbuirt.com

The codes also work with a tiny IR send application I found (uutx.exe) which just takes the Pronto codes and beams them via the USB-UIRT to the cable box.
