This:

sbiddle:

That is just a standard Android VM icon (and on other phones also). You've been able to have that as your default voicemail icon on Vodafone for probably the last 6 or 7 years rather than getting a SMS message and I've had it for that long as it's so much better than a SMS.That's now stopped as Vodafone have a new voicemail platform and haven't re-enabled it yet.

Unfortunately the SMS messages cannot be relied upon eg I had someone leave a voicemail message on my phone last Friday but I didn't get a notification until Monday when a second caller left a message.

This is quite widespread and has affected a few staff, at least the ones that have complained of it.  One staff member had stopped getting the notifications altogether and it wasn't until they power cycled their phone that they got the notifications.  I called yesterday to log a ticket on my own phone and was promised a call back but of course ...

VODAFONE DON'T CALL YOU BACK

If you only logged the job yesterday then it's generally 3 to 5 business days for an investigation to happen and then call back

You should of been given an incident number when on the phone call, Did you get that and note it down? You have quoted something not related to your actual query / issue

I'm referring to the fact that Vodafone have updated their platform and we were told the new one doesn't support that function.  I've now underlined the relevant section in the quoted post. Also, we are seeing the issue on iPhones where we used to have a red dot on the icons.

I was promised a call back as soon as the ticket number was created. After being told this I asked the CSR something else, then repeated the request for a ticket number to which he repeated that he would contact me.  I have his name so will call and ask for him tomorrow

What iPhone users refer to as ' Red dot notification ' is just ICON notification but the iPhone handles it a little different

ICON notification was never officially offered by Bell South or VodafoneNZ but as I understand is coming back to the Voice Mail platform sometime in the future

I can assure you that we had had this function since years ago.  I'm not making this up. Other staff that are complaining that the feature has gone away are not making this up.  Confirmation from Vodafone that they have actually lost this function through the platform upgrade proves they had it.

I know you would of had ICON notification I never said you didn't

But as above it was never a feature publicly offered but the old voice mail platform supported and staff could enable if they wanted to

I too have had this for a long time and had it enabled for me. It however was never an official service and was never promoted. I suspect most people on here who had it probably got it enabled by johnr every time a discussion about the VM icon popped up!

There are some cool new features coming with the new platform that a lot of people are currently testing.

^ Good to know.

FWIW, I called Vodafone back to chase my ticket.  To my surprise there actually had been a ticket placed just that the guy who took my original call failed to advise me by sms or phone call as promised.  Amusingly, while on this follow up call the CSR sent the original guy a message but he didn't get a response back either and of course sided with me that it wasn't acceptable that he hadn't come back to me as promised.  I'm told that staff training now includes a mention of this issue specifically.  I do wonder if this is based on my repeated rants to them over the years.  Not that it has done any good - they still rely on staff loading cellphones or their calendar with what is a personal reminder that clearly they can ignore at their whim.

Indeed. Which is fine when they actually work. I suspect there was an issue after the update.
