Cutover this morning to gigabit - not bad performance given its sitting behind a slightly undersized layer 7 UTM firewall doing all the DPI-SSL decrypt / AV etc.

 

Impressed to see my latency has gone back down to where it should be too. Thanks Downer and Vodafone!

Had to get transferred around a few times, but got someone who helped me sign up/move over to the 200/20 plan from out old 50 plan. I wasn't offered any form of perk for moving over to the new plan, but didn't ask for any either.

 

I did ask if I could do the modem/router setup myself rather than having to wait around at home for someone to pull plugs, but the rep wasn't sure and told me to ask Downer when they call. From experience Downer isn't too good at keeping to a schedule and waiting at home all day for a job that shouldn't take more than half an hour grinds my gears.

 

*shrug* I'm just happy I might finally be able to use my AC68 to its full potential again.

Having a 3 hour window isn't ideal, but if they can't even achieve that, it's pretty slack.

Downer engineer called - it seems I'm not the only one that hadn't had a slot arranged of when to expect the engineer to come.

 

Have arranged with him to do it later this afternoon after I'm home from the school run

And in the ongoing saga, Downer screwed up the booking.  Agreed on Monday morning, even put it in the notes as being this morning but then booked it for this afternoon.

 

Absolutely useless.  It's bad enough having to sit around for half a day never quite knowing when they are turning up but to have wasted half a day when I could have done some things I needed to do that I now cannot do because I'll be waiting most of the afternoon leaves me incredibly pissed off.  And the tech has to do 8 more jobs before mine.

 

I reckon that's grounds for going after the credit.

The credit for my olds has already been applied.

I'm one of the Downer techs and our work volumes have now gone through the roof. I've personally completed 3 docsis 3.1 upgrades today and tonight head back out for another shift to help complete some more of the node upgrades. But yeah, very busy at the moment. It's good though, at least we can now see this happening.
