Howdy people, I'm really new to this, so bear with me...

Well. Is there any way one can register for some sort of prepaid data plan on vodafoneNZ?

Because the way they're sucking the credit out of my account is just stupid. I have a Nokia N95, and I would use the Wi-Fi capabilities to browse through one of those USB Wi-Fi things, BUT the tendency for the N95 to not work with some access points is enough to stop me from forking out $40ish on buying a new one. AND I'm in a relatively rural area, so there aren't any of the public access points either, so I'm stuck with GPRS browsing which is costing waaay too much...

Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

Oh, and by any chance, do VFNZ have support for the "3.5G" function of the N95?

Thanks :D

No prepay data plans today (watch this space)

If your phone is not switchiong to HSDPA (3.5) in 3G coverage areas get the handset checked out! Make sure HSDPA is turned on in the handset! All 3G sites support HSDPA (3.5)

Your phone can't switch to 3.5 (HSDPA) if you live in a 2G coverage area.

How Rural do you live??

John

Not too rural, but definitely out of the 3G zones! :)
I haven't got the choice to turn the HSDPA on, I've looked in the booklet, but it's not where they say it is.
I've just got it on automatic, so it does what it thinks is right haha :D
Also, when I try and connect to the 'streaming' server through the Youtube app, it says "Could not connect to streaming server" This is in Auckland central.
ALSO (:D) the "no gateway reply" error! Probably one of the most common N95 complaints I've come across... It's odd that some access points don't do it, while others do...
Thanks man :)

Your handset is not configured correct if streaming is not working. I take it your handset is a import and not nz purchased. The option for checking if hsdpa is turned on does not have the option automatic you are checking in the wrong part of the menu.

No sir, it's definitely NZ bought.
I'll have another dig round tonight, see what it says.
Would it have anything to do with it being only V11 software?
I'm also having trouble signing an application online, but I suspect the answer is here somewhere...
Thanks for your help dude.

I have moved this thread to the Vodafone forum, and changed its subject to make it relevant.

Version 21 is available via Nokia Software Updater, but be aware that it doesn't seem to be working with Vista SP1 for the moment.

Righto, I've heard there can be a few problems with upgrading?
I don't really wanna wipe my phone, I like it too much :D
And the self-signing has again been a failure, I give up.
