So we have Sky with Vodafone, but really there is nothing there any more its like shouting in an empty house looking for something to watch for $65 pm. So we want to cancel the sky component and move back to Freeview, but can we get freeview, free, through the cable or do we have to rewire the TV to an external aerial?

I get (high definition) Freeview via "FibreX" cable at no additional cost.

A second modem is required - but no external aerial is needed.

The Freeview has been more reliable than the cable internet connection.

We dropped Sky two years ago, and don't miss it.

Vodafone used to offer a Freeview only option over cable but I'm not aware of this having been offered for a few years and their website makes no mention of it.

I downgraded from VF cable Sky 2 years ago - the (second) modem, Sky box, and cables were already in place.

I thought they hired you a t box for the fta channel only without paying the rest of the sky only channels. But I haven't asked them to confirm.

My parents have that package still. I think it's even free decoder hire with unlimited broadband. Hasn't been publicised by Vodafone for a while. Might still be available, but I expect it would be a retention team discussion.
