Just got an email sent to Clear address headed -

Your Vodafone email account is closing tomorrow

which would probably scare the Hell outa most people.

The message, however, says -

You're all set up
Your Vodafone email account may be closing tomorrow but because you’ve set up auto forward you’re well prepared for this to happen. With auto forward all emails sent to your Vodafone address will continue to be delivered to your new, improved email service.

So why send the email?

My Webmail still appears to be working too.

Tried setting up the autoforward a week ago, no confirmation.  Tried again when the new email came through stating that it hadn't been set up...still nothing.  I already manually moved all my important subscriptions to my new address so no real harm.

Hi, I setup a couple of gmail accounts for some old family friends recently, whilst moving their old email I saw the forward offer from Voda, so set that up, just removed the pop pulls on those accounts and did a test, in most cases the first email is still awol, but the next few tests came through. They also did not get a confirmation re the forwarding, but it is mentioned in the "closing down tomorrow" email that as they have setup forwarding they are all good to go.

Hey VF team, if you're around.

I have (firstname.surname)@vf.co.nz since closed but i still have the username against my old account.

Can I please setup a forward at the last minute through someone? Need to recover some accounts.

Cheers

Yes, message me with the details - original email/new email and ideally account number so I can validate.

Cheers

DarthKermit:

I'd happily leave Voda tomorrow if not for an early termination fee.

Read my earlier comments about this issue. The early termination may not be applicable. It was waived when I applied for it.

I'd be interested to know if anyone still has their Clear or Paradise accounts set up in an email client ... are you getting any error messages when the send/receive command activates?

I have Outlook 2010 using Clear's pop incoming mail server.  No issues with checking email, I actually got 2 emails this morning lol.  Email not set up for forwarding.  I haven't used their smtp outgoing mail server for some time.  If I use that for test email it says -

Send test e-mail message: The server responded: 421 Cannot connect to SMT

I used smtp.clear.net.nz and port 25, no outgoing authentication as their webpage.

@rayonline .... thanks for that, I have a number of people reportedly getting the same error message when the SEND part kicks in ... we have to tell them now how to turn off or delete that particular account/s.

As for getting an email, perhaps you intercepted them before Vodafone's forwarding kicked in?

Today is the 2nd December and I got it.  I got emails yesterday too.

Just used Gmail to send clear.net.nz an email.  Still receiving :D

I didn't set up email forwarding with this particular clear.net.nz email account.  I wanted it purge actually.

As for my outgoing email, I just use Yahoo but I cannot used 2 layer authentication, b/c I can then use it on my phone as well with the standard email client.  These days most ISPs don't have smtp servers and I am using mobile data outside.  I can use Google but I found that you need additional logins ie make your clear.net.nz with Gmail before it works.  Outlook, works but I found that it changes your default reply address so I am using Yahoo.  I have 2 Clear.net email addy in the past, I forwarded my main one but this other one (here) I left it, it was only for internet sign ups etc.

Understood.

As soon as I am happy that nothing more is being sent to my old Clear address, I'll log in to my account and delete the email altogether.
