It looks like Vodafone have finally moved to catch up with the competition. Their web site is now showing these open term plans:

 

 - 10Gb + 1Gb Bonus, $60

 

 - 22Gb + 1Gb Bonus, $80

 

Good on them for not doing any of that 'unlimited data' nonsense.

 

The $60 plan is exactly what I've been waiting for because I really like Vodafone's global roaming package and this price is pretty close to 2degrees.

I see Red Essentials open term is $79.99 with 23GB data (including the 1GB Bonus). What is different with Red+ @ $99 per month? Doesn't seem to offer anything extra for an additional $20 per month, and comes with less data @ 20GB?

 

Am I missing something?

Do people need to change plans or are those on existing upgraded automatically? I just loaded the VF app but my data allowance is still 3.5GB.

Plans don't update till the next bill cycle date normally anyway

And there's the changes. Now reflected on their website, they no longer offer the open term Red+ $99.99 plan as the open term Red Essentials $79.99 plan offers more data. 

 

I'm on the $99.99 plan currently, so will call to downgrade. Nice to know I'm going to get more data and pay less for it :-)

Oh, and it looks like the 1GB bonus was an error, the new open term plans are 2.5GB, 10GB, and 22GB.

Well these blow spark now.  It is a good counter move by vodafone.  Not as cheap as 2degrees but vodafone does have better roaming etc.

Cant beat Vodafones $5 daily roaming.

 

With Vodafone Red Share, adding up to 4 family members @ 19.99 per member per month is quite a bit cheaper than the $25 per member that 2degrees charge.

It does seem that each telco has just a little 1 or 2 things different to each other

 

2degrees = more data on top plan + roll over data (no limit)

 

Vodafone = roaming 

 

Spark = extras (spotify etc). 

 

 

 

If i traveled more i would be going with vodafone.

Hmmm,

 

Tablet share is free if added up till until 30 sept as well

 

But there will be a pricing increase on PXTs on 1st Nov (in "Important stuff to know" link)

 

 

 

PXTs To mobiles NZ the rest of the world: 49c per PXT (Effective from 1st Nov 2017)

 

 

 

So based on my current plan I can get an extra 4GB and not lose anything or cost anything more - but as mine is a grandfathered plan, might be a good time to change :)
