Looks like TCL is down (well in Wellington). But while I can't access telstraclear.co.nz and my work accounts (which are fed via TCL) I can access GZ and TVNZ. Traceroute to GZ shows it looks like iconz is the ISP.  Also can't access any international site

Would be nice to have fallover routes to some sites!

There are isolated outages, our offices data link and email is intermittent

Looks like it couild be a problem with Citylink. While I can get to most sites now, can't get to citylink or cafenet. As well can't get to my corporate mail system

And I just made a meeting with a Citylink sales person to assess if they could provide some networking capability for us!  That doesn't bode too well

You're right... I am not sure if this is a separate issue to the CBD power outage, or if it is related, but I would have thought if it were the latter they would be a bit more robust in their disaster prevention/recovery methodology.  Luckily my company has a managed router that auto-switches from CityLink to ADSL in the event of a CityLink outage.  It's a bit tough to keep multiple users online but at least there is a connection at all!  I'm really feeling for those companies that are solely with CityLink!

Heard from a network-dude mate at a place that has citylink as their primary backhaul to their ISP. Apparently some of the equipment on the poles had configs corrupted by dirty power (power flapping, brownouts etc) which affected the ethernet network as well as Citybridge connections from Akl - Wgtn.

Sucked for him becuase their 2ndary connection via NZWireless was also using citybridge because of an issue with their Kordia backhaul!

Woulda thought they would at minimum have power conditioners to prevent that!

Well we are still down this morning. Did get internet at times last night but went down at 9.30 approx and that has been that. Has been up and down since they did the work in the lower hutt area on Saturday I think it was.Frown

Oh and have to say I dont like the new "fix" for the call centre.

Get someone on the phone that says that if you leave your details someone will call you back. Did that last week. No one ever called back.

This time I got someone saying the same thing and said no I want to wait and talk to a tech. Few minutes later get someone else who appears to be a tech takes all the details etc then turns around and says oh someone will call you very soon.

Well it has been an hour now.. I would put money on no one calling..Yell

I was able to access our corporate mail by about 4pm. Interestingly, while www.citylink.co.nz was now available, www.cafenet.co.nz wasn't. I would have thought they would be on the same servers but clearly not
