I have been getting a lot of emails from @paradise.net.nz and @clear.net.nz over the last few days with the subject header. This mailbox is closed , and that is also in the body of the email. Are these being automatically being send by the email server? I am guessing it has something to do with vodafone discontinuing all email services, however none of the email addresses I have received these emails from, I have had any dealing with before. So they appear to be spam. But then again, why are they only using vodafone email address such as paradise and clear.net.nz. Anyone else getting these?

All outlined on their FAQ page :)

Can I still get my emails?

You can no longer view, send or receive emails since the service closed on 30 November 2017.

What happens if I’ve set up Auto forwarding?

If you’ve set up auto-forwarding, emails sent to your old Vodafone address will be automatically forwarded to your new email address. Auto forwarding can’t be guaranteed so we do strongly recommend you give your new email address to friends and family, as well as any other services or websites where you used your old Vodafone address as a log-in.

What happens to emails sent to my old Vodafone email address?

Any emails sent to your old address will not be received. The sender is likely to get an email back to say that their email wasn’t delivered.

You're getting spam emails from paradise/clear or are you receiving bounce backs for emails to paradise/clear that you're initiating?

Maybe his inbox is dispatching spam to null addresses and getting the return?
Maybe he is emailing clients on a mailing list?

What ever the case, It is WAD.

Wonder how many users of voda's 'service' never got around to setting up a forwarding email address?

Exactly why I didnt put a forward on my accounts. VF couldnt deal with spam when it was an email provider, so I assume that it couldnt deal with spam once it wasnt.

These are just random emails I am receiving. So they aren't bounced emails or anything. They are from email addresses I have never had any dealings with in the past. I am wondering if Vodafone are being spammed by spoofed emails, and my email address is being using as one of the senders by these scammers. But if that was the case, I woul dhave thought it would be a proper bounce error, as per their FAQ.  I would also think Vodafone would use SPF checking to prevent spoofed emails getting through. It looks like I am going to continue getting these emails from the Vodafone network as there doesn't look like there is anyway to stop them.

yitz: What does the information in the email header tell you?

This is in the header, so it appears they are coming from Vodafones servers

Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1])

These are being received outside the period when my PC is on. But they could be some form of bounce for scammers spoofed emails using my email address.
