Ben: Here's my call for the record. If you want the phone for $199 you are going to be paying AT LEAST NZ$100 per month. AT LEAST.

I agree! I think $100 NZD per month would be correct!

Not long till we find out!

Apple have stipulated that the 8GB iPhone will cost no more than $US199 in any country in which it is sold.

Some good thoughts there on the plans.

Marketing codswallop.  At least 4 countries have completely ignored that "stipulation".

I'm afraid I don't have much faith that Vodafone (or any other NZ mobile network) will provide us nice competitive pricing.  Not while there's only two companies to deal with.

Dude the pricing has been announced. its $199NZ on a two year contract, which is infact the cheapest in the world if im not mistaken!! The total cost of ownership is going to be high though, all depepnding on the price of the plans

It was never stipulated that the price would not be more than $199. Apple SUGGESTED the retail price $199.

The $199 price announced by Voda yesterday will be on their most expensive plan, on the cheaper plans the phone will cost more.

Wrong.  Apple dictated it in the supply contract for the device.  Yes, there will be a variety, but if a network operator wants to sell it they have to make it available for no more than $US199.

Probably the highest i'll go is 100 a month.

This should include
txt package, calling package, The option of best mates, and a data package.

I mean, im not happy about the whole plan thing as it is. They over charge on everything. The only decent plan i have found so far that they currently offer is there Mega plan.  200 Vf to VF minutes. (anytime)
20 minutes to other phones (anytime)
txt 2000 + 1 "free" bestmate.

If they have similar options like this for the new iPhone, then Im gonna be first in line, but if its just  a rip off im just gonna wait and import one from over seas.
