Found one of my sims - put it in a phone

Calling 777 then 1 then 1 then 1 says I have 0 balance now, expiring tomorrow, last top up was $2 on the 10th of july 07.
Calling anything (0800, 0508,  tells me that its barred and to call 777 for furthur details.

Calling 777 just gives the normal options, doesnt tell me anything of interest.

then got a text from vodafone saying

active -- nocredit, your credit expired, pls recharge asap.

Now I was using this card in my n80 prior to getting the data plan, taking and making calls and I believe it had balance left at that time (under 20c, and I had used the IOU but that was before the change to the $5 one.

So either I conveniently found the sim a year to the day after my last topup, (Which it isn't) or vodafone are doing something tricky again.

Anyone had anything similar happen?

I will call the misinformation center tomorrow...

Or it could be that you just last topped up your sim on 10.7.08 and it's now expired ;)

No, I had used it extensively in September last year, and after that would have being when I put the IOU on it, which resets the expiration to 1 year at the time anyway (well it did, I haven't topped up since the $5 IOU came out to see what it does instead)

I could look back and see when I last did the $19 transactions at the student association last year, since thats what a $20 topup cost. This year no discount, hrmph... Will see what they have to say when I call tomorrow. Might end up going to the store since my past dealings with egypt 777 have being pretty unsatisfying.

The IOU doesn't reset the counter. That date via the automatic system is usually pretty accurate. You just lucked out on finding your sim to the day Laughing. Let's just hope you were smart enough to top up before midnight.

IOU has reset the counter in the past when I was getting near to expiration, the IVR and bal to 777 has always reported the date of the IOU as the last topup and the expiration a year after that. I havent done any IOUs since the change to $5 with a charge for it, and that does say it has an expiration - doesnt say what happens if you dont however.

I called 777 but gave up waiting after 4 mins so just went to the mall. The store looked it up and it was simply out of credit and apparantly thats what happens when you turn one on thats out of credit. It occured to me that its possible that the credit ran out if I had used some data on the N80 since that was back when it was use it as much as you like and they bill later.

So anyway, that wasnt going to stop me porting so off to the telcom store, it was after 4:30 so it prob wont get processed till monday but the cheap nokia sure is a nice small phone. Shame they cant do multiple nams on one esn or I would port one of the other 021 numbers that I have over.
