Very interesting.  Thanks for that XML feed, I'll look into that tomorrow.

I hope you can fix it. :)
Edit: I'm holding on the help line waiting for a human. ;)
Edit two: So much for that. Simon said he couldn't help, the guys who could aren't in on Saturdays and to email it in. So I emailed it in. Sigh.

Bump, in case anyone is still messing with the issue.
I'll let you guys know how I do via email support by posting back what happens. Being as how it's Sat. I don't expect to know anything new until some time next week.

The team has obviously changed line five, the tags without parameters are gone, but the meter still isn't working and there appears to be possibly (as far as I can tell from my limited html and pascal experience) two tags missing. This error is reproducable on both my laptops and I'm sure the same thing would happen if I tried it on my work pc.

The current read from https://accounts.xport.co.nz/xml3.cgi?username=myusername@xnet.co.nz;Password=string of asci here

is:

<trafficUsageResponse>
<version>1.3</version>
<link>http://www.xnet.co.nz/downloads/xnetusagesetup.exe</link>
<message/>
<ttl>900</ttl>
<cpm>0.001</cpm>
<version>1.7</version>

<link>
http://www.xnet.co.nz/downloads/xnetusagesetup-1.7.exe
</link>
<errstr/>
</trafficUsageResponse>

There's a <message/> tag in there with no beginning <message> tag and there's a <errstr/> tag in there too.

<errstr/> = Error string?

So the short of it is my FF usage meter is still not working. The error console reports no errors, probably because there is no error message tag as above noted? Who knows.

Can someone please fix the blimmin' code?

I'm passing this along to the support guys again via email.

Interestingly my FF useage monitor had been working until after I upgraded to FF 3.0.1 last night.

FF 3.0.1 also destroyed my FF user profile, causing CSS pages not to load properly until I created a new one.

I didn't mean to sound so grumpy in my last post, I missed a smiley but it is annoying me.
I paid most of my bill on pay day and just guessed the amount with the base price plus around a dollar a Gig. The usage meter always tells me.

It isn't a FF upgrade that broke mine, it happened quite some time after that and my profiles and everything else were fine. It just happened one day out of the blue and it must be the account itself, not my PC or software because it does it on at least two computers.

 Maybe I'll try on a PC at work today but I doubt that will help. I think it's the code in the feed on my account, as pasted in above.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. like

in html I guess.
I'd rather that it HAD been those errors, then it was fixable. Damn.

Edit: well that's odd. I took out my old password, tried one I didn't think was correct (it wasn't) put the correct one back in again, opened the xml feed from my browser and got

<trafficUsageResponse>
<version>1.7</version>

<link>
http://www.xnet.co.nz/downloads/xnetusagesetup-1.7.exe
</link>
<errstr>Username or Password Incorrect</errstr>
</trafficUsageResponse>

Which is fair enough. Then in the error console in FF I got this, the old not well formed error line five error:

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<trafficUsageResponse>
<ppm>true</ppm>
<bpc>69.95</bpc>
<>0.00</>
<international>88068.46</international>
<local>351.11</local>
<national>681.50</national>
<total>88749.96</total>
<cap>None</cap>
<overage>Unthrottled</overage>
<limited></limited>
<version>1.3</version>
<link>http://www.xnet.co.nz/downloads/xnetusagesetup.exe</link>
<message></message>
<ttl>900</ttl>
<cpm>0.001</cpm>
<version>1.7</version>
<link>http://www.xnet.co.nz/downloads/xnetusagesetup-1.7.exe</link>
<errstr></errstr>
</trafficUsageResponse>

Thank Goodness I am not a programmer. :P

It gets stranger...

I have 3 PC's running FF and the xNet plugin - 1 is not working, the other 2 are fine...

Having some machines working would tend to indicate the xnet account side hasn't changed and is fine?

My PC's are as follows:
- Ubuntu 8.04, FF 3.0.1 - Not working since recently
- Ubuntu 8.04, FF 3.0 - Working still.
- Windows XP SP3, FF 3.0.1 - Working still.

I still think 'for me' it has something to do with the 3.0.1 upgrade and profile screw up..  Starting to wonder if FF itself is screwed up somehow...  so plan to remove FF completely and re-install and see what happens tonight.

On a side note, I notice a lot of my addons have upgraded recently for compatibility updates with 3.0.1, but no updates for xNet plugin.

Try using xml4.cgi, that is if you dont mind reading your info off the xml. Alternatively there are many home-written apps people have posted there that will read it for you. I have one written in php you are welcome to, and I have seen one for the OS X dashboard, one in excel and another couple in php. Smile

Well weirdly enough the month ticking over today has (fingers crossed!) fixed it.
No errors on the FF error console. Base price for the plan is reporting correctly. Zero, zero, zero on the local, national and international. :)

 I'll have to do a test download and see what happens.

I'm happy it works. Yay! :)

Chris from support emailed me today to say,
" ...the person looking after the FireFox plugin is away until mid next week."

So hopefully no errors on mine will crop up and hopefully if any of you are still getting some, he'll look into it.

Now I'll go pay the rest of last months bill and hope I win a prize. :)

Mine is broken again.

Edit: working again. Must have been a temporary glitch.
