I have noticed that to get an iPhone on any plan other than the one they call an "iPhone Plan" it says that you have to go into a store.

Well, I live a 250Km round trip from a VF store. I am sure that plenty of others in NZ live much further away from one than that.

Is there any known reason why you need to go into a store or is it just some perverse thing to get you to sign up to only the expensive and/or inflexible option on line?

Surely a multiple choice plan assembly widget in the online store would be a cinch?

That might be true if you had to go in for ALL plans - but the iPhone + iPhone plan can be done on line. Just not the iPhone and You Choose - or 3Gb data.
