Where can I find my mobile data usage for a supa prepay account.

I thought I read that we would be able to see our data usage in our vodafone account interface on the website once the $1 per day plan started today ?

Can't see it anywhere in the account interface though ?

No, you have to be "On Account" to check your data usage. You will (should?) receive an SMS when you reach 8MB of usage, and again when you reach 10 MB, but I'd advise against relying on these. Your phone most likely has a data counter you can check.

hmm, ok.  Checked the data usage this morning it said 8.1 mb (my internal counting was 8.6 but that tends to fluctuate) - but still no text.

Do we know if it guaranteed that we should get a text, and definitely on 8 mb (not 8.1, 7.9, 8.2 etc)?

What VFNZ should do is provide an online account detail for Prepay Customers such as that which Vodafone Australia does-see below.
With the large number of prepay connections and the amount of money which annually is spent by Prepay customers it is incredible that some Government body/regulator has not made them have more transparency in terms of account records. Many banks have recently had to pay significant amounts of compensation for foreign currency transaction fees I believe because they did not make sure that  customers were aware of them (although I might be incorrect as to the exact legal reason why the compensation was paid).
VFNZ has recently made several changes including the charging for some data which was previously free via VFlive and while they have sent out texts many customers who may not have their phones on for a significant period may not receive these if they disappear from the system before they are received.
Surely VFNZ ought to provide detail in real-time which is available via the Internet so that customers can keep track of what they are spending. To make things worse VF NZ are now also about to charge for some 777 calls.

It seems unbelievable that Vodafone can monitor data usage in realtime, bill it in realtime (for prepay users) and yet can't give their customers a visible way of viewing this realtime data.

With the move to $1 data and excessive costs for exceeding $1 customers shold expect to easily be able to see when they have exceeded 10MB. This shouldn't be a basic requirement.

Imagine ordering food at McDonalds and being told that if you exceed $10 you will get your food cheap but if your total is over $10 that all food will now cost 10x as much. The catch being that you have no pricelist in front of you, just a menu.

This isn't just a gripe @ Vodafone either - we know Telecom's billing system for data is even worse!

I have to say I 'love' the new price structure. It's the best thing since free data on prepay Laughing

Remember though guys, try and make yourself think like a money-making corporation - they were making X millions from casual data beforehand, they wouldn't want to suddenly cut this revenue in half unless there's a good reason. The 10mb deal is a great way to get people used to browsing on their mobile and I think they're banking on people going well over the 10mb limit once the service is entrenched. That said, just make sure you stick to your 10mb. I'm actually impressed that they're sending the 8mb and 10mb texts to everyone.

well apart from nobody, but johrr, at this stage seeing the texts... (that have read this thread)

And from what I saw the last couple of days the billing site took about 90 mins to update with your usage, so depending on what your were doing, but then you may be well over the 10 mb...

I guess the rule is you should try and monitor your own usage if you're capable of it (I use a WM5 device with SPB GPRS Monitor)  It warns me at 50% and 80% useage of 10mb in a day.

Hmm, to be honest, I've gone over the limit 3 times now and no texts. This has remarkable similarities to the TDRS training which only John was sent on Wink /joking

I still have the SMS on my handset if you would like to come check.

Level 6 KPMG end by the window.
