Well, according to their maps central Wellington should have volte.

my iphone begs to differ - Voda Carrier version 40, in 4G coverage, and yes I have money on my prepay.

my dreams are dashed.

How do you know if an iPhone is using VOLTE?

I had a Samsung S10 which had a wee icon that said VOLTE at the top. The iPhone appears not to have that icon. At least, if it does, it does not display it here at home which the S10 did. (Yes VOLTE is turned on).

What iPhone and iOS version? I'm not 100% sure the iPhone 6 is currently capable, but iPhone 6s onwards should be. Have you also gone into mobile data settings and checked its enabled there?

iPhone 6 and newer are supported. You need to actively switch VoLTE on in iPhones. And you will only see "4G" on the screen

Interestingly a Huawei handset with a Spark SIM shows VoLTE enabled, but with a Vodafone SIM it won't show it.

I understand Vodafone and Huawei (one, the other, or both it is not clear) were working on getting this solved for Huawei handsets on Vodafone, but no word on this. I will follow up.

Any news as to whether Kogan Mobile customers have immediate access to VoLTE too? I guess they have to in VoLTE-only areas?

I just asked on Kogan mobile chat and they said that VOLTE will be available with a Kogan sim.

Are there any Kogan Mobile users out there who can confirm whether VoLTE is indeed working for them?

I've an S10+ running Android 10, so the phone and firmware definitely supports it; also it's enabled in the settings, but currently no dice (and this is an urban area that definitely is covered).

Anything else I need to be doing or need to check?

Thanks...

Do you info on Nokia handsets working VoLTE on vodafone? I have a Nokia 8.1 and 9 Pureview. Both dont show VoLTE option in settings while using vodafone sim.

So I'm not getting anywhere with this... Kogan state VoLTE is enabled on my account; as mentioned, it's enabled on the phone, which is compatible and running the latest firmware.

I notice that when I make a call the phone will be in 4G at the start, but as it dials and connects it drops to 3G or H+... What's going on here, and is there anything I can do? I read on this thread that if the phone is running 2D firmware it makes no difference (mine was purchased from JB Hifi, but I'm unsure which carrier firmware it has).

Thanks in advance.

Who told you VoLTE was enabled on your Kogan mobile number? If some random call centre person told you then I call BS

Call Centre person? You gotta be kidding me! Only email/online chat support from those guys...

But, yeah, it was a CSR - they claim to have checked my account and ensured it was enabled (would it really need anything done at the individual level?).

Given I believe I've got all my ducks lined up my end I'm not sure where the issue lies... I guess I could try a Voda SIM, which would confirm the phone isn't the issue, but not no-one in my family is with them for mobile...

Unless it's on the Kogan mobile site that VoLTE is enabled for Kogan mobile users then the staff member has zero clue what they are speaking about

Off topic - perhaps create your own thread but I have contacted Kogan PR after your post and here's their reply:

Yes - Kogan Mobile does support VoLTE in New Zealand!

Vodafone’s 4G Calling (VoLTE) deployment is now live across New Zealand, which is available for Kogan Mobile customers as well.

Note: Currently, iPhone users will need to switch VoLTE on manually. To do this, customers can simply look under Settings > Mobile > Mobile Data Options > Enable 4G Voice and Data.

For Samsung handset users, VoLTE is set to be default on for VoLTE capable devices, so customers with an S9 or S10 will see “VoLTE” on the top of their screen.

Reply from Vodafone tells me "we are still working through this with Huawei, to find a solution for all of their VoLTE capable products."

coffeebaron: As above, will probably enabled once 2degrees firmware is updated to Android 10. This I have confirmed on a 2degrees S10 on Vodafone network. VoLTE became active on latest update to Android 10.

I got tired of waiting for the official 2d android 10 upgrade, I flashed it with a different country firmware of Android 10 on my S9+. Now i do see the VoLTE toggle button and it works with Vodafone VoLTE.
