Hi

I have my VFX set up here in the UK. My parents tried to ring tonight, but it went straight to my VFX voice mail. I checked all my settings and it should of gone through. I tried ringing my number from a BT landline and I got a message saying number not recognised. (It was a BT voice) I tried once more, but same thing. I then checked my email for the call notify and I received 8 call notify emails from my UK  landline.

Any ideas.

I had a similar problem until I forwarded some ports in my router.

From other threads, the ports I believe you need to forward are:

5060-5061 (tcp/udp)

and

8060-8061 (tcp/udp)

Others e.g. maverick may chime in with more detailed / accurate responses.

Interesting you got that RVA yet you got Call Notify, can you send me the details and  I will take a look.

Is the device registered, ie do you have the phone LED on or does the status page say registered ?

EDIT: 17:00

See how you go now, I have found an issue that may have been effecting you and others , it relates to a new firmware load that was installed last monday on one of our network boxes that may have caused the problem (this new load had been running in our lad for a couple of weeks with no issues), this is being looked at by us and the vendors at present.

Interesting, my parents had a straight to VM incoming call today. They use a SPA2102, perhaps same issue?? I can PM details if you are interested, tho I'm not to worried about it as it was only a one off.

Hi

yes the phone LED is on, and outgoing calls are fine. People have called before with no problems, so yes it could be related to the firmware load you mentioned.
But why did I get 8 call notify messages ?

Update:

Have just tried ringing from my BT landline and the call went through fine.
So all seems well.

Thanks again.

It was related to the same issue, the new firmware had some issues where certain registered devices become corrupted for inbound calls, we are working with the vendors now to fix the issue.

Only effected inbound calls and was random.

Have you logged a fault ?

Also bad static, isn't related at all to this issue.

Yes I have logged a fault with xnet's helpdesk. They did remove and then resend my configuration to my router and now people ringing up can hear it ringing (rings 6 times before going to voice mail), however the problem is none of my phones ring when someone is ringing. I can still make calls out, and if I know someone is ringing I can pick up the phone and it will 'answer' the phone call.
However none of my phones ring.. Cry

Well this is extremely inconvienient because I effectively have no phone, because none of my phones ring (they are not faulty as the work on the house next door) when people ring my phone number, even though the person ringing hears it ringing.

i've gone through all the instructions the Help desk sent me (trying a different phone (which is tested and working in another house), resetting the router, changing to line 2 on the router, resending the 'profile' to the router...)
A now the only thing left is to get a new Linksys router, which is going to take atleast another week and all the while I've been effectively without a phone since the 15th - August - 2008.

Does anyone have any way to get a new/temporary unit faster (there are no shops locally that stock this product) or even better a fix for the problem ?

Before you lose all heart, try port forwarding the ports I mentioned (in my first post above) to your SIP device (PAP2T, SP2102 etc - located on internal LAN IP 192.168.1.1 on my network setup, yours may be different). Solved my inbound-calls-going-straight-to-voicemail problem.

The router im using is a WAG54GP2 which has 4 ethernet ports and two phone ports (i just plug the phones directly into them).
The WAG54GP2 is the only device on the network, there is no seperate SIP device.
So I cannot see how I can portforward to anything (my phones dont get IP address...)

Cry definately something wrong there.

I have the same router as you and have no problem whatsoever with recieving incoming calls.

Instead I have problems with choppy audio if there's even a hint of uploading (or downloading for that matter!!) going on - despite the fact I have a perfecltly good 8Mbit/s/750Kbit/s connection to the net Cry

Well after a long time waiting for my replacement router, my phones can now annoy me with their ringing again.

However there is a small issue that may or maynot turn into a large issue.
The router smells like solder smoke, its not a "huge smell", because you can only smell it when your face is right up close to the 'vent holes'. (don't ask why I was that close).

Should I be worried? or is it just expelling some substance left over from when it was being made and stop soon?
