I'm curious how the apps work...is there an app store? Do the developers have to create a version of their app specifically for this platform? Are they simply ported Android apps?

Box just showed up, only took a few mins to get going.

First impressive feature I've found, the unit will play Netflix with Dolby Atmos soundtracks and thankfully my TV passes the Atmos signal to my soundbar. My apple TV may have a little less work to do now.

I thought this supported iheartradio? Can't see the app anywhere

Otherwise it works well on Spark Fibre 100 so far

When you have become familiar with it, I would be interested to learn if live video has fast forward/rewind or is there only a timer display?.

Vodafone TV runs apps in an Opera 4 browser on Linux.  So apps are written in HTML5/Javascript and CSS, and yes, they do have to be written specifically for this platform.

Processor is Broadcom 7271.

The middleware provides access to the Media Player through the OIPF (Open IPTV Forum OIPF Volume 5).
•The Sagemcom Player supports SVP (Secure Video Path) and runs in a TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) within the STB SoC chipset.
•Additional streams support is available through the MSE and EME APIs
•DRM is provided through Playready v2.5
•Streams types supported are:
–Availability: HSS, DASH
–Video: H.264, H.265
–Audio: HE-AAC
•Subtitle and multi track audio support (Opera 4)

Visual thumbnail indication of FF/RW is currently in test but requires one more platform upgrade before we can release (to both Gen2 and Gen1).  We want to be able to handle visual RW/FF on all playback types before launching (VOD, live, 3 day REPG).  Current plans have this happening in November.

In the meantime, the timer-based indication for RW/FF is much improved on the latest firmware with a visual progress bar and more smoother experience.

Ok after having a look at some of the help pages I have a few more questions:

* Does the subscription to the Sky Channels have to be manually renewed every month or is there a setting for automatic renewal?

* If I subscribe to Starter + Entertainment + Sport/Movies will I get Soho for free like Sky Satellite customers do?

1. No - once you subscribe these channels will automatically renew unless you remove them.  When you remove them you will be able to keep watching the channels until the end of the subscription period.  If you remove all pay TV subscriptions then at the end of the subscription period the service will revert to just Freeview+cloud services.

2. Yes, the Starter + Entertainment + Sports/Movies free Soho deail is available.   You will see this automatically offered/confirmed as you sign up for the required services at vtv.nz.

Can I get an answer on my question RE 4K programming, can Vodafone add a 4K non SKY channel of their own chosing. Or the channel lineup is restricted by SKY being the content provider?

Vodafone TV arrived this morning, set up tonight in about 10 minutes.  All looks good, just got to learn how to drive it. On 2d Fibre.

Can't use the phone app yet as in log in says coming soon. This is not a problem yet as we are the first to use them.

So far very happy.

I tried the iPhone app, entered the correct username / email address and password, and was declined:

Power tips on how to drive:

Power Tip 1: for a good experience when using with Sky content:

- press menu for the main menu

- navigate to the TV Guide heading and press OK when the words "TV Guide" are actually highlighted

- you will then see the full TV Guide... press "BACK" to jump to the channel filter

- you can then filter the guide by Sports, Movies, Documentaries etc

Power Tip 2: use the D-Pad up/down instead of the channel up/down when viewing Live TV.  This then shows you clearly what you can watch on the 3 day rewind feature.

Just watching rugby world cup opening ceremony on TV1, im comparing it with a satellite feed thats also up elsewhere..direct from japan. Showing the same video footage TVone with all the hops and buck passing terrestrial tv1 to sky to vodafone pingpong hop skip and jumping etc the delay in footage is approx 1.30 MINUTES.

YIKES~!

Can Vodafone fill us in on some of  their additional time delays, with say the terrestrial channels in normal conditions.

Not specifically for sport, but the timing delay of something appearing on terrestial freeview and it appearing on the Vodafone stb.

Hamish, thanks for the tips, also found in settings if you don't have sky channels you can turn them off so they don't keep showing up in TV Guide and that makes navigation easier.

One question, I can't seem to be able to record Hawaii Five O, Magnum PI and a Movie on TV2, is this a problem with the Guide or is this normal and is there another way to see it after it has been shown?

Thanks.

If you go into the Web page you set up on activation, under TV Service, Linked TV Device, you will see your box.  If you click on add device it says there that Mobile device is coming soon.

Cheers

We can add non-Sky 4K channels, but there would be a reasonable investment required. The costs are driven by encoding and storage costs of the higher bitrate streams on the cloud PVR and distribution across three CDNs.  The supplier of the 4K channel would also need to be able to extend the content distribution rights to us, legal agreements formed etc.   All doable, but there would also need to be a good reason for the effort.
