Sorry @HaggisKiwi, I've just realised what you're asking:

No you can't use an existing Sky subscription that you pay to Sky on Vodafone TV.  That existing payment for Sky's satellite service goes to Sky, not Vodafone, and has no linkage to our VTV service.

Instead you will need to activate a new subscription with Vodafone. Note that with VTV:

- you can sign into a Vodafone TV app (not Sky GO) that lets you watch live Sky TV, watch recordings, 3 day catch up, Sky's on demand content, manage your recordings, and also cast to TV.

- you can add multiroom boxes wiht access to your Sky subscriptions for $25/mth each.  Note that each of these boxes can record to and view the 500hrs of HD cloud recording, so the $25 is a lot cheaper than the $45/mth that Sky charge for an HD MySky multiroom box.  Also, recordings made on one box can be viewed on all the others (and on the VTV mobile app).

Hi Hamish, thanks for that.

Basically I can't have "all my Cliffs in one place" unless I pay Vodafone for Sky services; or Vodafone adds SkyGo to it's list of supported platforms. The latter probably isn't going to happen.

Yes, you can have "all your Cliffs in one place" with Vodafone TV and the VTV app.  But, no, not with a mash up of Sky + Vodafone devices & apps.  We did try to mash it up and merge with our friends at Sky, but the Commerce Commission denied us on that attempt 3 years ago!

When checking just now to see whether we have the latest update, I noticed the settings page ‘VTV Intelligent Mode Consent’.On the first ‘Notice’ page, I see “Agreed” and green tick mark.
On the second ‘Consent’ page, I have it set to “Not Agreed”.
When I go back to the Notice page, it still says “Agreed”.
Anyone know what is going on here?

This should not be happening.  Do you operate multiple boxes on your account?
It's working for me, does anyone else on geekzone have this issue?

The question still remains, @sansom, what is ‘VTV Intelligent Mode Consent’ (& why would I want to enable it)?
Thanks Steve

halper86: Hi all, i’ve caved in and bought a VTV direct from vodafone on their website. I ordered it late morning Thursday and it says that it is not ready to be picked up by a courier yet, anyone else having delays from vodafone’s side?

I ordered one the same time as you, and apart from the original order confirmation email, I haven't received any further communications?

Did you get tracking details?

I got the confirmation and the dispatch email. However once I click on track and trace, nzcouriers says that the parcel is not ready to be picked up

I'm going to call up the Vodafone sales team tomorrow, as I've only received the first order email, and the day after order (on Friday) I received a really fishy looking email from onlineshop@vodafone.com, it matched my order number, even had my first initial and surname, BUT the email was asking me to share my credit card screenshot?!?! (with weird grammar too)

Email:

Shop, Online, Vodafone NZ <onlineshop@vodafone.com>

Hi,

Thank you for your order.

Kindly share screenshot only the top half which shows the first 6 and last 4 digits of your debit/credit card or A screenshot of the transaction displayed on your statement reflecting name of the card holder through which

payment was made for this order which is under name of "X XXXXX "

Feel free to contact us for further assistance.

Regards,
Vodafone online shop team

Is this legit?

VTV Intelligent Mode is what Vodafone Group calls the VTV feature that recommends what to watch next based on your viewing history.  The intelligent recommendations platform is not yet implemented in NZ, but we've included the privacy setting in the settings menu so that you're ready to go when it is implemented here (probably +1 year away tbh).

Currently the VTV recommendations are based on the genre of what you've just watched.  We will notify all users when we're about to implement recommendations so that you can review your privacy setting and enable/disable based on your preference.

Click on the from and it should say onlineshop@vodafone.com. Sometimes scammers put a legit looking email into the from name instead of email.

Yes, it says from onlineshop@vodafone.com, but that can be spoofed.
Also checked all email headers, and the email bounced around originally from some outlook.com servers, then via some X.internal.vodafone.com servers, and some further more.

I initially ignored the email as any business asking to confirm a screenshot of your credit card over email just seems wrong! (and the usual sign of phishing).

I'm concerned either way:

  1. If it is phishing, how did the hackers/spammers get my Vodafone order number, and last name?
  2. If it is legit, then why are Vodafone asking for people to send a copy of their credit card in?

Hi @snowfly, you're right, it doesn't look great.  I'll follow up with our logistics team tomorrow to see why this email is sent and worded as it is.  At least, for PCI compliance, I'm confident we wouldn't ever be storing or displaying the full credit card number.

@sansom

You’re right - it should not be happening - it makes a mockery of Vodafone’s assertion on the Intelligent Mode Notice page that “Vodafone is committed to protecting your personal information”.

I do not have multiple boxes on my account.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Is anyone able to rewatch the am show on catch up or on the three app? I was able to rewind and/or watch on catch up last week but it seems it's not available anymore. I'm thinking it's maybe a cost cutting exercise by mediaworks though I'm not sure it actually costs anything to have programs available on catch up unless they are paying for cloud services and freeing up available space.

The app tells me it is happy to push The AM Show to our TV, so yes, we can apparently watch it now.
More likely MediaWorks is trying to wring more licencing revenue out of Vodafone. The marginal cost of having 3 day catch-up (or allowing streaming to the app - No TV3 there) can't be too onerous, this DRM business is largely about politics and making money. :-(

Just tested this.  Can't rewind to watch it.  It's not on the three app on the VTV box.  It is on the VTV app and I can send/cast it to the VTV to watch. Very strange.
