Finally arrived looks good so far , sorry wasn’t sure what page of this post may cover this. How do I search for a specific program to series record that is not on tv today or watching at the time  . I have about ten programs I need to set up series recording for the father in law. Any ideas?

If you open the menu there is a search option at the top left corner. The microphone button on the remote might be a shortcut to this. Also, in the guide you can use the fast forward button to jump between days

awsum thank you will pop back round after dinner load up his fav programs

Received ours this morning, so almost a week to arrive.

We ordered as a box for the bedroom for a TV that doesn't have Freeview (nor is it a smart tv, no Netflix etc)

We have a Gen1 with Sky in the living room on an on account plan but don't want to pay $20-$25 for Sky multiroom, just Freeview in the bedroom is fine, so ordered a Gen2 for $99.

The remote that came with the Gen2 accidentally paired via bluetooth with the Gen1... (So it turns out the Gen1 is actually bluetooth capable) but the remote it comes with doesn't pair via bluetooth.

(The gen1 showed in settings that it was paired with a bluetooth remote)

I had to unpair it to get it to actually pair with the Gen2. but apart from that quite happy with it :) Identical experience to the gen1 (without Sky channels in our case) working over Wi-Fi (Vodafone Ultra Hub)

Good evening @sansom!

I think we might have found a bug in the UI (as in I don't think this is just another design element that bugs me). We used went to the guide column and down down down to get the guide grid. From where we back 20 sec to go backwards. Accidentally went 2.5 days back, so start going forward again. Found that using the right dot to go forward, when you get to a show that 'wraps around' to the next page, pushing the right dot would not go to the next show. Each time this happened we had to push the white dot an extra time. First push has no effect.

... so we eventually get back to yesterday's NCIS. No play button. Opened it on the App. Last week we could push it to the TV from there, but today we get a message saying that show can't be pushed. (Didn't explain why, or why it showed us the Push to TV button at all, after delaying the display for a second or two while it checked DRM.)

Fortunately, we had NCIS recorded on the T-Box. Easy!

:-)

Hi @SteveC.  Thanks for this.  The skip buttons should only go back & forward 3 hours in the guide with each press (FF/RW goes back & forward 24 hours).  I can't replicate what you experienced, but will report it back to the developers. From the 2.5 day skip you mention, that would imply your remote has sent 20 presses of the skip key in quick succession, which would be hard to do by mistake so indicates a bug.  This type of thing does happen in my household, but only when I find one of the kids is sitting on the spare remote!

I don't watch NCIS, but after having a quick look, I see season 17 is available on demand via the ThreeNow app on VTV.  Note, NCIS seasons 9 to 13 are also available on demand via the Amazon Prime Video app on Vodafone TV.

NCIS is a good example of a popular show where the rights are being contested around the world which results in this patchy availability.  So in NZ, Amazon Prime video, Sky and Mediaworks have purchased the rights to distribute various different seasons, with Mediaworks paying the big bucks for season 17.  Seasons 14 to 16 rights are on DVD (season 16 costs $35 on DVD set at The Warehouse).

I must say that the VTV remote is brilliantly 'powerful' … seems to work even when stuck up my jumper, outside on the deck and facing the wall opposite the device 🤪

The TV remote has to be pointed directly at the receiver spot and no more than about 3 metres distance, and my old stand-by DVD player requires less distance than that.

That's bluetooth for ya!

Your range seems pretty short for Infared remotes though, perhaps there's something interfering with it, like lights, the sun?

Yep! I've said before ... main attraction of the VTV is the quality hardware. Remote is a key example of this. First world problem - trying to turn on the VTV when the TV is already on. Not that easy to cover the IR so the Bluetooth can do its thing to turn on the VTV, but the excellent IR sneaks through my fingers and turns off the TV at the same time.
We have had a very cheap Dish TV box on our bedroom TV for many years. Does the job, but the remote feels and acts cheap. 'Tinny' feel and very limited angles where it will work. This was a factor in choosing VTV over another Dish product.

@sansom - I did some more research over lunch (I'm a natural researcher at heart). Couldn't replicate the exact problem from last night, but found something close. Using the fastforward button, generally it skips forward as expected. If half a show is on screen, it doesn't skip a few hours, but instead displays the second half of the same show. Not an important issue by any means, and a little different to what we experienced last night, but interesting ...

This morning at 4:33AM my Vodafone TV Gen2 Box powered up turning the Sony Bravia TV in my bedroom on breaking my sleep, any ideas what caused this and how to stop it in future please? I would rathe not have to turn off CEC control or as it is now by Sony, Sony Bravia Sync, but will if necessary to get a good night's sleep.

I had wished CEC would work with our 2012 Samsung ('AllShare' was Samsung's branding at the time). Perhaps not now!
No chance someone pushed the on button in their sleep? Bluetooth remote - don't need to pick it up to operate!
