beenz: The software update to the VF box to take it to ver2.
I understand how to check the version however I was asking what the latest version is.
Sorry if this was not clear.
Thanks

Not sure what you mean with ver2? We have two Vodafone TV set-top boxes:

  • Gen1 without WiFi (this is the STB that has been in the market for 2 years)
  • Gen2 with WiFi (this is the STB that we have just started to ship)

The Gen2 is currently shipping with version 5.1 of the software and Gen1 is currently on version 3.1. We plan to roll out version 5.1 to all Gen1 boxes after the Rugby World Cup. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to swap out the Gen1 for Gen2 units? When I signed up I was expecting to get the latest version.

Will the Sky go app work on the box?

Is their information about which Freeview channels are available?

The box seems to be a better option than the Smartvu!

Can the new Voda TV device be used to access external drives, e.g. NAS?

At this stage we are not supporting access to external storage. The STB does have a USB port, but this is for Vodafone maintenance purposes only.

The SKY Go app can only be used by SKY customers and is not available for Vodafone TV customers. We do however offer the Vodafone TV app on iOS and Android. It is currently only available with our Gen1 Vodafone TV, but will be made available to Gen2 soon.

The Vodafone TV channel line-up is here: https://www.vodafone.co.nz/help/broadband-and-tv/vodafonetv/

Correct, at this stage we do not have an App Store, and only Vodafone can add apps to the service.

Bought one of these today.  Setup was pretty quick and painless - except for pairing the remote via Bluetooth.  I have followed the instructions on screen, and also unplugged (restarted the box) and removed the batteries from the remote and also reset the remote as per the VTV Help but I can't get it to pair via Bluetooth. Any tips on what to do here?

It should just be a case of holding the yellow+3 buttons for a couple of seconds until the red light flashes on the remote's power button, then let go.

If you go to Settings->connected devices->remote control->remote status it will then tell you if it has paired / re-paired successfully.

Yep tried all that but no success. The red light flashes (both on the remote and the VFTV and then it stops and it still tells me to pair it. When I click on remote status it says it’s using infrared to control your Vodafone TV.

Spent 50 minutes this evening on the phone with Vodafone. They couldn’t work out why it’s not pairing either and have escalated it. They will call back tomorrow after investigating further. If they can’t get it working I’ll get Noel Leeming to swap it for another.

Does Vodafone TV have the Spark Sport App?

And how do you think Vodafone TV compares with Apple TV?
