The Simpsons may be on Disney Plus, not long to see.

Hope TVNZ stays with all programs 3 day wind back as that’s my main way of 2 and a half men etc.

TV 3 is funny, they’ll let you record the 6pm News but not 3 day wind back.

Most of Freeview cannot be recorded, where I’m guessing the 10% figure of not being able to record is including Sky Channels.

I use smart TV for applications or Apple TV when it runs better on that so not worried what applications VF TV has. Being able to do Neon with out chrome casting/ air play will be a lot better, haven’t tried the 3 month trial yet.

Turned the TV1 news on  at 6:51pm. Tried to rewind to 6pm. doesn't work. Tried repeatedly, still doesn't work. Well I saw the weather.

If I paid for a feature, such as rewind, and it doesn't work, I think its time to fix it. Otherwise we are looking at a Consumer Guarantee issue.  Heck. I paid for a product that does bugger all, apart from sometimes showing live TV.

This is truely unacceptable. Can someone please post the email of the boss again?

Did you try restart?

When a program is on I press ok, a restart box shows up, high light it and press ok again.
I’m not home present, but it has restarted each time.

I doubt it why would they give you a Gen1 unit?

I think @netspanner has got a fair point. There’s very little in the box by way of instructions or guide on how to do many things and similarly very little on the VTV website. A lot of the required actions are not exactly intuitive which makes using this thing very frustrating.

Some of us have managed to find out how to do things only because of this thread on GZ. How are the general populace of users meant to know or find this stuff? A lot of people must be trying to use it and are just getting p*ssed-off with it. VTV had potential to be a great product but IMO it has been released only half-baked and without proper support. It’s possible that its reputation has already been tarnished and will never recover - particularly following on the heels of the shortcomings of the Gen1 unit. Vodafone have done themselves a disservice.

I for one won’t be supporting a new Gen 1 thread rather renaming this one to something like VFTV software as it is the only place where I can view development progress on a platform of which myself and others have been unwitting paying beta testers ( in my case) for now over 2 years. All of the issues canvassed here have been with us for that time but the positive thing about the release of Gen 2 is the power of people who have purchased the platform from 3rd party retailers who have things like the CGA constantly hanging over their heads. It is pleasing to see ready answers and feedback from the VF guys who lurk😊 here but can’t help wondering how a lack of support of Vodafone’s own community groups and the until recently toxic atmosphere within was a self fulfilling prophecy. All this being said VFTV is the way of the future. Despite the aforementioned shortcomings, due to access to super fast broadband and Ethernet (not wifi) we have a stable platform, usability and most of the programming we want in HD.

Well put. Similar thinking to my post above.

Hi @netspanner, there are a number of ways to rewind on live, but the two key ones are:

1. [perhaps the best way] when watching live tv press the up or down "dot" buttons on the direction pad (refer section 4 in the quick start guide).  This brings up the visual channel up/down view that has thumbnails for each of the programmes available on 3 day rewind for that channel.  Simply select the thumbnail of the programme you want to watch.

2. As @rugrat has noted, to rewind just the programme being viewed live, press the OK button while watching live, select restart.

If you're in Auckland I'd encourage you to come along to the next Geekzone pizza evening on 30 November where myself and most of the Vodafone TV team will be there along with Jason our boss/CEO and Tony our CTO.  It would be great to get your feedback and discuss your views on VTV in person.  If not, and if you still think the two options to rewind above are unacceptable, then I'm more than happy to DM you Jason's email.  Let me know.

Hi, ok thanks for that feedback.   In terms of how the general populace finds out how to do things, the Quick Start Guide (provided in the box) has the "Need help?" section which provides the vtv.nz portal address where they can find:
- online customer self service for managing the VTV account and "Help with Vodafone TV" link to the following
- step by step instructions for common questions
- channel feature guide
- how-to videos
- detailed trouble shooting guide
- Chat bot (TOBI) guided assistance with backup live support from a team of 36 agents covering VTV questions 24*7.
- Also a simple Google search also finds the discussions on this forum where Olof (the NZ VTV Architect) and myself (VTV Product Owner) regularly provide support, and the Vodafone Community where James (VTG Technology Lead) provides his support.

However, I take your point that we could be better. Based on your frustration it's obviously still too hard for some customers to find the information that is there.  We will provide an easier way to find the help information that is available and look to fill gaps asap.

Actually it will be a Gen 1 box.  These we bundle with HFC max for no additional cost.  Gen 2 is $179 RRP.

The free box works well to retain customers like me. That will work even better when it gets the upgrade to function like the Gen 2 box.

Holy crap, this actually works!

For the first time in weeks I can actually rewind to the beginning of a program.

Thanks rugrat!
