So a few nit-picks from the new webpage:

* Says it requires a Fibre or HFC connection, but they have marketed it in the past to VDSL users?

* The Broadband plans didn't get updated, so if you opt for Ultimate Home you would of paid the box off in 12 months (comparing the price to Smart Connect)

* No Sky TV pricing on the webpage, would be nice to see if Sky's offers apply e.g if you get Starter + Entertainment + Sport/Movies then get Soho for free

* Would of been nice to see a Sky Offer promo like free Sky Sport for a year

No.  The Vodafone TV box until now has required an Ethernet connection, and a Fibre or cable plan.

So a few nit-picks from the new webpage:

* Says it requires a Fibre or HFC connection, but they have marketed it in the past to VDSL users?  [HS: This is because we will now be supporting VTV on other ISPs and, while it will often work on VDSL, and even ADSL, we can't state this on the tin and be 100% confident the customer's internet will be good enough on these access types with the associated (and often much older) modem provided by the ISP]

* The Broadband plans didn't get updated, so if you opt for Ultimate Home you would of paid the box off in 12 months (comparing the price to Smart Connect)  [HS: this is a purely standalone TV offering independent of our broadband offerings.  It is cheaper to get VTV on our broadband bundles, but this is with a Gen 1 (no Wi-Fi) device and ownership of the box stays with Vodafone.  Naturally, post-launch, we will look at whether it makes sense to change the broadband + TV bundle offering]

* No Sky TV pricing on the webpage, would be nice to see if Sky's offers apply e.g if you get Starter + Entertainment + Sport/Movies then get Soho for free  [HS: good point.  All the Sky offers (eg SoHo) are reflected 1-for-1 on VTV standalone and the pricing and offers can be seen by the customer on the VTV self-service portal once the box is activated.  But, you're right - we should make this clear on the web site so I'm having a word with the designers right now!]

* Would of been nice to see a Sky Offer promo like free Sky Sport for a year  [HS: there are two offers included, 3 months of Sky's NEON & 4 months of Spark's Lightbox via redemption code included in the box]

Thanks for the reply, to confirm what I am reading is if I go to Sky's website and look at their standard pricing then that is what anyone with a gen 2 VF TV box will pay? Also am I right in assuming its month by month and no term contract?

I've just bought one from VF online (post free).

I have a gigabit HFC cable connection.

I'll report on results when I've had a play with it.   🙃

Correct, you pay for and own the box, and there's no Sky dish installation to pay back, so no term contract.

We don't have anything to announce on these two apps.

I can say, however, we are planning to bring Amazon Prime Video to VTV in the coming months.

The $179 box comes with 3 months NEON and 4 months Lightbox subscription.  Sky channel and On Demand subscriptions can be added with credit card payment.

Lightbox voucher too? Great to see that combination made it in :)

I wish a gbit ethernet port had made it into there.

Although it won't be an issue at 100mbit, seems kinda silly alongside 4x4 5ghz phy rate.

Will go great with a 4x4 router though. Suspect the aim there was to gain the effeciency and stability benefits there for WiFi in Edge locations.

sansom:...we are planning to bring Amazon Prime Video to VTV in the coming months...

More good news.

@sansom Personally, I'm not concerned about the lack of wifi for the Gen 1 hardware, but what's happening with the software upgrade?

(Smaller snip)

to confirm, @sansom, you are saying that it is currently cheaper to buy the new VTV box outright instead of leasing the older box on a current broadband bundle, but you will be looking at this after the full launch?
Personally, I just hope our T-Box keeps working for a lot longer!

I will say the Wifi on the new boxes is very good, I get fantastic connection speed through 3 walls!
