Hi,

We're moving into a new house this Friday. I'm keen to get the Fusion plan in the new place, but upon calling WxC was told that I had to wait until we were in the new house before I could sign up, and from then it would be a 6-10 day wait without broadband (or phone).

Now as I'm sure most of you can appreciate that it took a lot of bargaining with the wife to be allowed to ditch the traditional phone in place of a VoIP system! Finally I got the approval, and it's fallen over at the first hurdle... There is no way she'll put up with 6-10 days without a phone (when Telecom would have it connected the day of the move).

I've been thinking of ways around it... how long does the number port take? We're wanting to port the number at our current house before we move, and then take that with us (which obviously won't work if we wait until we're in the new house).

* Could we port the number now, divert it to one of our cell phones until all the changes take effect?
* Will I lose my existing DSL connection (I've heard all services go south when the number's ported)?

Any further suggestions, please reply!

Cheers,
Ben.

The number port is no problem. This takes 4 days lead time, so you just book it in for the day you leave your old house. You can then setup call diverts to cell phone etc. This will then automatically collapse your existing phone & broadband service.

So would I just initially sign up to the VFX service and port my number across now, then, when I move, convert that to Fusion?

Yes that's right. Sign up for VFX and advise you want to number port on "move date". If this is this Friday, you need to to this today, and book number port for perhaps 2pm Friday. This will also stop your current phone / broadband - so don't call ahead to cancel this. Call your existing provider a few days after the number port to check it has all canceled (NB: Telecom / xtra are very good at this, ihug are not, other ISP's it varies).

Once moved in (and number port has happened), place your Fusion order for your new address and advise this is to go with you existing VFX number.

If you need some help, send me a PM and I can help setup the necessary orders.

By going through a dealer (Like Me) we can ususally speed up the process a bit, or split it in half etc.

Send me a PM for more info.
