Hi everyone,

We’re excited to let you know that the My Vodafone app will soon be getting an upgrade.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be inviting customers to put our new app through its paces with some rigorous testing of a pre-release beta version.

The testing will be fast paced and interactive. Feedback can be provided by simply shaking your phone and our Digital team will be standing by to tackle any issues as soon as they’re raised.

Interested in getting involved?

You’ll need to be…

  • a Vodafone customer
  • a regular user of the My Vodafone app
  • committed to testing and sharing your feedback with us

If this sounds like you, please follow the link below to complete a short survey:

https://www.vodafonevoice.co.nz/c/a/5clyg65EIzSIYKV71I6gGW

If you’re selected as a tester you’ll receive an email with next steps. If you’re not successful this time around, don’t worry - there will be more opportunities to help with beta testing in future.

Thanks for your time & interest!

Pippa @ Vodafone

Will the new version work for customers on corporate plans? The current version doesn't work at all for that.

Hoping the new version will bring back the widget.

Hmmmm even Trade Me used to give me free movie tickets for doing user testing focus group stuff. Sounds like all I get with this is a potentially buggy app experience for a while...but if it means I can see all my mum's billing in one screen I'm interested...

I feel like the whole app has been beta all along.

Is it going to be faster?

Is it going to stop randomly telling me that it cant show my stuff and not work till I force close it and start it up again?

Will it alert when seldom used sim cards need a top up to remain active or will they just silently drop off the list of numbers in there when the sim goes inactive, meaning I have to go and buy another one and pull the car apart to get to the GPS tracker to swap the sim over?

I've applied to use it. I've been waiting a long time for real improvements to this app. It would be good just to get back what was lost from the old app but I've no idea if that is the focus of this upgrade.

@timmmay, the questionnaire specifically asks whether you use business plans so maybe it will.

I don't pay the bill, so I don't really care about the cost to be honest, so I won't bother with it. I just wanted to note that it would be a useful feature.

Is it going to show the unbilled amount? I looked but I can't see it anywhere in the current iteration.

Hi @Timmmay - keen to understand more about what isn't working for you currently. If you have a corporate account with a large number of services attached, then yes - this won't play well with the app unfortunately. The desktop version of My Vodafone is more suitable for managing larger, corporate accounts. That being said, we do have plans to investigate how we might relax the account size restrictions in the app in future.

It doesn't show anything at all about my usage - calls or data limits, at least last time I tried about 6 months ago as I gave up on it and uninstalled it. We probably have hundreds of users / numbers under this one corporate account, though I'm not sure if it's more like 100 or 1000 numbers. We were all told we have a 3GB / month data limit but no way to monitor that limit.

mrgsm021: Hoping the new version will bring back the widget.

Hey @mrgsm021 - the widget is definitely still on our list but won't be available in the short term, I'm sorry. This first app update (in a series of planned improvements) addresses some of the main UX pain-points our customers have raised and introduces a refreshed design.

So no chance of unbilled amounts then?

Hi @quickymart,

Not for now - we don't have a pro-forma bill calculation engine that the app can access. We do however show you your unbilled usage transactions under View detailed usage. The middle tab 'Spend' summarises them and you can see the detail under the Details tab. If you Filter, you can get it to show you just the usage with a cost. Most peoples billing is a regular plan cost that doesn't change month to month + chargeable usage transactions (out of plan spend). It only gets complicated when you change plan, buy an add-on etc and you get part month pro-rated charges - so something we'd need the billing system to calculate - which is why we don't have it at the moment.

Cheers,

Peter

Hey @Timmmay, it sounds as though you only need access to your own mobile service, rather than the entire account? You should be able to do this by adding just your mobile service in the app. If you've done this, and it's not showing any usage, can you PM me your details (the email you use to sign in with & the mobile you're trying to view) and I can take a closer look for you? Thanks!
