Does the SMTP server mail.godzsite.com allow remote connections with no authentication?

It's very unusual these days to have a SMTP server that'll accept a connection from anybody outside trusted domains (ie users of an ISP or company), open STMP servers are the reason the world is full of spammers.

Why are you not just using Xnet's SMTP server for outbound mail?

I use third party SMTP sending via XNET connection on occasion and have no problem.

Primarily because I use the email address at work, home, and also over a vodem connection.

Would suggest checking your authentication and security settings.

Awesome

Apply for a Static IP with Xnet (I think a charge applies) and you can send using external mail servers.

Sending via theirs is a bad idea if your domain uses SPF records and such because some servers will will drop the mail as it has not come from a server that is verified to send mail on behalf of that domain

Alot of servers allow smtp auth with no encryption (i.e. port 25).

If you want to connect to an SMTP server that's not Xnet's, you must have a static IP - extra $10 a month for this.

If you use an SMTP server other than xnet, you need:
Either
  a static IP
or
use a port other than 25 on the alternate SMTP server.
