Usually I just wait until I have 5 numbers With dates and times and give vodafone a call. Reported a bunch Of UK ones yesterday (1.5hr wait in queue) and they sorted it straight away.  Just a couple of NZ numbers now.

Basically, spammers using an autodialer

Do you not think these spammers are not interested in as going as far as porting phone numbers or requesting SIM swaps? I don't know if this is their game or not...

When they call you, just say put the phone down, and go about your normal business until they hang up.

You don't have to be polite to them, they are trying to steal from you.

The reason they are calling back is because they think you are a likely to continue with the scam.

If you are worried about them misusing your number (seems very unlikely and nearly impossible) your best bet is keeping the number so you know if something changes.

ETA: there have been changes that make number transfers much harder. Usually you have to go into a retail store and produce ID.

No I really don't think so. I've enraged a few of these scammers by pretending to play along but keep putting up obscure obstacles.

Just over a year ago one even threatened to have my internet cut off. I pleaded with that scammer to yes please cut my internet off. I told him "I no longer want it". Guess what, my internet is still working

They may be giving up, last call was 3-4 days ago. I've seen their link again on MSN too. How does MSN even let them post their link on MSN?
