Here's my story with this particular thing. We are currently on VDSL, no issues or so. In May 2020, we just received a modem from Vodafone and I figured it's for their wireless service. We called them saying that we didn't request for a wireless modems to be shipped out to us. The team member we spoke with was also confused with what happened and we just came to conclusion that we will be returning the modem to the nearest store and that would be it. After a few months, August came and Lo and behold, we received a letter from Vodafone saying that we owe them money and our service will be suspended if we don't pay it. Since both of us are working from home we called Vodafone immediately and was told that we have a wireless service. Told them we don't have one and we returned the modems months ago. Was told that we will be getting a call from them the next day and no one called. Had to call them back to sort everything out. Had to talk to the xsquad for them to cancel everything off.

Glad you go out of it! What VDSL speed do you have?

It's just easier to not use Vodafone if you can. I left in 2016 after a year of broken promises regarding the HFC congestion problems and will never give them another cent. Every interaction you have with them, no matter how simple it seems on the surface, will result in a performance art piece screw up.

Agree if Vodafone want to chop his 100mpbs VDSL down to 40mbps 4G there will be a plethora of other providers out there who will gladly take him on

I get 70Mbps VDSL, 100-200m line of sight to the cabinet, and have just received the "you're going to 4G next month" email. UFB ducts are in the ground, but I'm dithering over the price.
The message says you can opt out of the mobile BB if you have a monitored alarm (mine is now cellular as you have to go to VOIP to get VDSL), but doesn't actually say you can just say NO. From what people posted earlier about unsolicted plan changes, CAN I just say No?
They can also just say no about providing you service at that address over copper. Its not a rule that they have to retail copper broadband services so I would expect that once a critical mass are off copper they will just give the ultimatum to the stragglers. Why delay the inevitable, just move to another provider and sort out your fiber install.

Most of the people complaining about getting these letters are people who cant get Fibre and still forced onto 4G you would have to have rocks in your head to stay on copper if fibre is available
I haven't had any issues with VDSL and am not sure fibre would give me any extra value for the $240/year it would cost, and with the current financial situation $480/year (really 600/year as the 24 month discount is n/a) for Fibre Max isn't happening. I guess I need to talk to the retention team...
BTW a guy 3rd back on a rear section behind me (closer to the rising hill face) has 4G broadband and says his Zoom meetings are absolutely hopeless. He wants fibre but somebody on the shared access has said no.
You may find that fibre is priced the same as VDSL with most providers (the ones I've seen anyway). Shop around and see what you can find.
If fiber is available I have no problems with retailers deciding to stop selling copper services. As people are already on voip for the phone with VDSL in almost all cases with these, there is no change in availability of phone with the move to fiber.
Last I read up on it, the 111 code of changes didnt apply to retailers anyway, just cripping chorus from moving on. Which is why spark are able to stop selling copper in some areas since they are not chorus.

4G is definitely more inferior than VDSL (But Better than ADSL on a Long Cable Line) so IMHO its a fit between ADSL and VDSL
There is no reason not to upgrade to Fibre if you can, it is by far the most superior technology - What bugs me is people who CAN'T get fibre getting these letters to be forced into migrating to 4G which makes up the 3-4 other posters on this thread who have got these letters
Fibre will be cheaper than VDSL, its priced that way to encourage you to move
