@wyleECoyoteNZ
Those speeds about the same as I am getting but I am in Kapiti on Cable and am not sure if that makes any difference. Not too concerned about speed though.

@Eva188
My only account to date is that same as yours but I am assured it will appear a lot less in the second account I get.
I await with bated breath.

Seems to vary over the day.  Also in Kapiti, and right now (2.30pm) getting 514Mbps down and 102Mbps up, so happy :-)

Attempted to switch today. Hid the fact you were going to be locked into 12 month contract with cancellation fees then prices would increase by a staggering 35%. Cancelling subscriptions when Tbox ends. $65 buys a lot of Netflix, Neon and more.
Can’t believe people pay so much for terrible programming.

Promised 900+, get 500ish, and are happy? Not sure I can see how that works TBH.

It sure is better than the typical 100/20 fibre offering, or the old 50/2 cable plan. Also, if they’ve reduced their monthly bill could be another source of happiness.

Have also noticed speeds consistently well below the 900ish promised. Don't really have the energy to chase up, especially after having just having delt with the change over.

I know I should, but 500-600ish down and 100 up is a huge improvement over my grandads old 50/2 plan.

Hi the footnote in the attached sub thread may help you understand why HFC speeds are not always as good as advertised.

Further updates from my speed...

Called Vodafone and spoke with a very helpful ninja, and we ran some tests.

Interesting, and I've just re-run these, the results below

Firefox (88.0.1 64 Bit) using Vodafone Speed Test (Speedtest.net) to Wellington server: 312.95Mbps down \ 97.03Mbps up

Google Chrome Version 90.0.4430.212 (Official Build) (64-bit) using Vodafone Speed Test (Speedtest.net) to Wellington server: 531.60Mbps down \ 98.98Mbps up

Google Chrome (same version as above) using Fast.com 660Mbps down \ 100Mbps up.

Strange with the differences between Firefox and Chrome, but I'm happy with those Chrome speeds.

I'm happy with my speed, as although it's ethernet connected, it's not directly from PC to router. The Vodafone tech ran a ethernet as I previously detailed, but at each end of the ethernet, it's been crimped to an adapter to which another ethernet plugs into my PC at one end and the router at the other end.

If i get the chance over the coming days\weekend, I'll run a ethernet directly from PC to router, and repeat the tests to see difference, if any.

Can you try using the Speedtest.net app that is in the Windows store?

Also try doing tests to the likes of ACS Data in Wellington, have found in the past the Wellington VF speedtest server is a bit over-subscribed

Am not sure that’s correct. We were not locked in to a contract when shifting from Tbox to VTV a month ago. My pricing has dropped with the changeover. Make sure you speak with the Migration team and not just anyone that answers the phones so you get the correct information. The VTV is an improvement over the Tbox with many more features so it’s been worth it.

This from Vodafone on 2 Jan 2021 to this thread.

"So to update my summary, our Tbox replacement offer for HFC customers:

- Free VTV box, yours to own (in exchange for as many Tboxes as you have currently)

- Unlimited Ultrafast HFC (with new DS3.1 modem if required) offering download speeds of up to 700-900 Mbps , and upload speed of up to 90-95 Mbps in good conditions

- Free Home visit by a professional installer to install VTV, upgrade your broadband modem and wiring (if required), integrate your telephone wiring (if required), and provide a quick introduction on how to use VTV

- all for the same monthly price you pay today for broadband and Sky (if subscribed) and no need to sign any contract given you've been loyal to Vodafone for so long"

So I agree get the Migration team to speak to.
