Eva888: Is it worth keeping the power adapter for anything? Such a nice remote too. I assume it won’t be able to pair with Apple TV box that has the worst remote ever invented.

IF (and it is such a huge if it should really be in a 60 point font) Apple follow the Bluetooth standard AND (where is my 60 point font?) they allow non-Apple devices, then sure it will work great.  These types of conditionals are one of the reason I don't bother with Apple stuff any more.

On the other hand I have great Sony Android TV that comes with a contender for that Worst Remote award.  The VTV remote paired with it fine this morning and it finally makes the Sony TV the nice solution it should have been out of the box.

I find Apple stuff works fantastic, especially the Apple TV. It has the grunt, and most media works flawlessly on it.

I use the LG TV remote to control it (which isn’t made by Apple), and even though not by Bluetooth but by CEC, find it suitable for my needs.

I will miss Vodafone TV though as it looked way better then new options from Sky at present.

I have found an even better replacement for Vodafone TV than TiViMate App with Google TV and the Vodafone TV remote. It is Sparkle TV App with Google TV and the Vodafone TV remote paired with the Googel TV. The advantage being that the replay of recorded programs works.

Were TiViMate gives a Parser Exception Error on playback of recordings over SMB from a Windows 10 PC or from a local drive, once configured Sparkle TV just works as long as the DVR recording folder, and the timeshift record folder, are not shared between different Google TVs.

You also may need to uninstall other DVR Apps such as TiViMate to avoid unknow tuner errors. If you do get such an error disabling DVR location, deleting contents of the DVr location and reenabling the location plus a possible reboot fixes it. I was able to solve this due to much better error messages from Sparkle TV.

After quite a bit of procrastination I've gone with the Amazon Fire Stick to replace the Vodafone TV. We have an Apple TV that covered in the interim, but other family members find the remote frustrating (especially the lack of fine control for fast forward).

It was going to be either the Dish SmartVu SV11 or the Fire Stick, since both can provide Freeview live streaming.  I opted away from the SV11 ($86 for a refurbished unit on dishtv.co.nz) because of reports of it being a little unstable.

I got the latest Fire Stick (4k version) in a sale at JB HiFi this week for $69 and sideloaded the Freeview (see https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=73&topicid=304244). It's working well and the remote is easy to use. I also loaded the VLC app and with that I can also play content off my NAS.

We switched from watching the evening news on TV3 to TV1 because TV3 don't allow access to the delayed stream until 7:30 pm. TV1 allows you to watch their On Demand stream at any time after 6pm.

We're hardly noticing the lack of recording.  Most things are available On Demand.

That sounds tempting - VLC would play content from NextPVR, which we find reliable most of the time, but requires some patience.
Regular viewing, including Freeview and most recording (NextPVR for backup) is a Tivo. Remote requires patience, but most of the time it does day to day things OK.
Most of our recording is movies that are not available on demand. I'll have a go at Sparkle TV, suggested by @IvanPiacun, when I have time ...
