There is no requirement for the RSPs to make sure customers CPE is compatible when moving from the NEAX to VOIP

 

This includes but not limited to Alarms, EFTPOS, PBXs, Medical Equipment

 

If it works after the move, great, if not the customer needs to upgrade their CPE

@decibel Incorrect VodafoneNZ / OneNZ did not provide them with the PBX

The two second on and four  second off is not new on Vodafone analog trunks.   I first struck this on NEC PBX systems about 10 years ago on their Centrex offerings. From memory they weren't the only ones .  I seem to remember Spark did the same. 

 

Posters here suggesting that SIP trunks should have been installed are correct unless there is a hardware issue  in that they can't be provisioned.

There is no botch, because its working fine with analog handsets which is what they sell the service to work with. If you choose to put a PABX on it which is not a supported configuration from One, then that is on you or the integrator to make sure that these changes will work for you.

They wanted to push the changeover through and assured that everything would be the same as on the old system other that that our lines would appear on two sockets rather than a piece of copper, as you say if a standard analog phone works (albeit with a different cadence) then end of story.

They Had not Choice Spark which owns the NEAX switches (and sells to other providers) are progressively shutting these down.

Understand this is frustrating, and it should have been explained up front that various PBXs, EFTPOS Terminals, and Alarms may not work post changeover, that aside it will still not stop this process from happening, once the NEAXs are removed VOIP is your only option.

Or cellular. 2degrees will let you take a landline number to a sim card and then that can go into a gateway. They say its not supported but it works fine for the people I know doing it because their copper is dire and voip never worked over their wireless broadband properly. OP is remote so there is a good chance that since they are still on ADSL they will have issues with crap copper that noone will ever want to fix.

You are in a tricky situation here.

 

I suspect that the problem with the "...This is causing the PABX to drop and then pickup the line.. " is actually caused by the modem not maintaining polarity reversal during the silent period of the ring and not the ring cadence itself.  (this is/was a known issue back in the day.)

 

This should all be configurable in the modem settings.  For many years I used a Linksys ATA off 2talk and that was the case there.

 

I have just looked up the specifications at ComCom and although there is quite a bit about ring cadence, I cannot see anything about the DC polarity

 

If you get no joy from ONE, you can follow the suggestion of  @old3eyes and set the ring validation timer to 3 seconds.

 

 

 

Or, better still, take the advice of a lot of people here and change to SIP trunking.
